The Position

The Opportunity:

The Regional Lead, Travel & Expense Compliance is based in San José, Costa Rica, and reports to the Global Lead, Travel & Expense Compliance. This role serves as the key point of contact and link between the T&E Compliance organization and local affiliates within Roche Services Americas.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Compliance Strategy & Oversight: Define and execute compliance monitoring protocols, identify key improvement areas, and support policy updates/changes across affiliate teams.

  • Operational Management: Manage day-to-day operations, ensure effective resource utilization, maintain team performance, and resolve team escalations.

  • Documentation & Audit: Establish documentation for T&E compliance reviews, ensure adherence to company policies/external regulations, and annually prepare compliance checklists.

  • Service Delivery & KPIs: Plan, manage, and monitor service delivery for in-scope entities, maintaining quality/accuracy according to agreed KPIs and SLAs.

  • Reporting & Quality Assurance: Ensure the accuracy of KPI Dashboards, prepare affiliate communication reports, and conduct random T&E quality assessments.

  • Leadership & Development: Define annual goals, promote a positive working environment, coach on operations/workload, and drive staff career development and team engagement initiatives.

Who you are:

  • 7+ years of work experience in compliance, finance, internal audit of a multinational company, or a reputable accounting firm. Strong interest in compliance is essential.

  • Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

  • Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory.

  • Possess strong presentation and analytical skills, with the ability to effectively communicate, influence, and lead (with and without authority).

  • People-focused with good communication skills and a customer service (Entrepreneur Mindset) orientation.

  • Demonstrate good judgment, problem-solving, sound decision-making, and conflict management skills.

Preferred:

  • Professional qualification (e.g., CPA, ICAA, CIMA, ACCA).

  • Experience in people management or leadership.

  • Knowledge of the Concur SAP system.
