The Regional EHS Manager - LATAM Operations, is a strategic and operational leader for all Environmental, Health, & Safety programs across Neogen’s LATAM locations. The role is located at Neogen Pinda, Brazil and will support multiple locations across Brazil and Mexico including Manufacturing, Distribution, R&D, and Laboratory operations. They will collaborate with Regulatory Affairs teams for environmental efforts in Brazil, and lead the other LATAM sites E-programs.
Reporting to the Senior Director - Global EHS Operations, this role is responsible for driving Safety and Environmental compliance programs and operational areas. This leader will Simplify, Standardize and Sustain all EHS solutions across the region by collaborating with operational stakeholders and other OneEHS team members; The Regional EHS Manager will serve as the subject-matter technical expert for all EHS compliance and program execution needs.
As the Regional EHS Manager, your responsibilities and deliverables will include:
Develop and execute a strategic EHS and Risk Control plan for Neogen LATAM.
Own and provide oversight and governance of multi-site level EHS programs, including Safety and environmental domains which may include: Combustible dust, machine safety, biosafety, ergonomics, air emissions, wastewater, stormwater, hazardous and regulated waste, and related compliance.
Act as a strategic partner to the EHS Governance function, integrating EHS considerations into lab operations, manufacturing processes, and high-risk activities.
Serve as a trusted EHS advisor to site senior leadership and cross-functional teams, providing guidance on complex risk management and regulatory compliance matters.
Collaborate with Facilities & Engineering during capital projects, and manufacturing operations to integrate EHS into site operations and project planning.
Lead the development and deployment of innovative EHS solutions, leveraging data analytics to identify trends and drive data-informed decision-making.
Oversee the management of change (MOC) process for operational and infrastructure changes, ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory standards.
Develop and maintain site-specific environmental management plans, ensuring timely reporting, permitting, and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Lead investigations into complex environmental and safety incidents, utilizing root cause analysis methodologies to develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
Implement global EHS standards ensuring compliance excellence across LATAM operations.
Identify Industrial Hygiene needs and solutions while working with EHS Governance teams.
Drive Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) for assigned programs and ensure alignment with ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 standards.
Core EHS Program Responsibilities:
Process Safety Management: Implement and audit the Neogen Global Process Safety, Flammable Liquids Safety & Compliance, and Combustible Dust programs
Serious Injury & Fatality (SIF) Programs: Implement and audit Serious Injury & Fatality programs, including but not limited to Confined Space Entry, Live Electrical Energy, Energy Isolation/LOTO, Working At Heights and Machine Safeguarding.
Emergency Preparedness & Business Continuity Planning: Implement and audit emergency preparedness and business continuity programs throughout the LATAM region. Align with key stakeholders throughout the organization (IT, Legal, Compliance) to integrate the full needs of the business to assure post event operational continuity.
Exposure Control: Implement and audit the Neogen Global Exposure Control programs, including, but not limited to, IH sampling, respiratory protection, hearing conservation, bloodborne pathogens, radiation, and freezer/cryogen programs.
Ergonomics: Stand up ergonomics program throughout LATAM operations. Align with key stakeholders throughout the organization (Engineering, Maintenance & Operations) to integrate design criteria that mitigates musculoskeletal disorder risks.
Management Of Change: Imbed management of change programs with key stakeholder systems. Establish and drive EHS engagement in all process or system changes to mitigate employee risk.
Innovative EHS Processes: Create innovation solutions and EHS processes, tools, and training programs, that result in a standardized approach to EHS across diverse manufacturing and non-manufacturing environments.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a key liaison between internal and external stakeholders - including planning, procurement, engineering, facilities, and legal - to integrate EHS requirements into company processes, driving alignment and compliance.
Risk Management Enhancements: Implement robust risk management strategies for Neogen equipment and automation processes, with a focus on injury prevention and compliance.
Process Optimization: Streamline EHS processes through the introduction of innovative tools and methodologies.
Best Practices: Foster a culture of continuous improvement by sharing best practices and lessons learned across all Lansing, leading to enhanced EHS performance and operational consistency.

Qualifications
You must possess the following minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.
Minimum Qualifications
The candidate must possess a min. of a bachelor degree or post-graduation degree in a safety, engineering, or science field; or if in a non-science/engineering field. Safety certifications such as: CSP, CHMM, CIH, NEBOSH are a plus.
Safety Technician Certificate per NR Standards
**REQUIRED** - Must speak/write in clear English, Portuguese (and Spanish preferred)
5-7+ years of combined experience in Biotech, Pharmaceutical, Chemical, related scientific field or heavy industry.
Proven experience in Environmental Compliance Mgt.
In-depth application experience in all of the following: Air Permits, Hazardous Waste, Combustible Dust, Flammable liquid storage, and LATAM regulatory reporting.
Proven EHS technical implementation expertise in Flammable liquids and Flammable gases, and Life Safety Codes within manufacturing operations.
Ability to travel up to 25% (or as needed globally)
NOTE: This is an onsite/very hands-on role Pinda, Brazil; Remote/WFH does not apply for this role.
Experience managing other EHS professionals
Experience with other LATAM EHS regulations (Brazil, Mexico, Columbia, etc.)
Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification, with practical application of program management methodology including Lean Six Sigma / Kaizen / 5S.
Proficient in ergonomic risk assessment methodologies
Working knowledge in: Combustible Dusts, Biologic agents
Experience with performance metrics, process improvements, and Lean techniques.
Proficiency in developing and implementing SOPs, management plans, and training programs.
Ability to leverage data and analytics to inform decision-making and program improvements
