Job Summary
This position reports to the Site Refueling Manager and is directly responsible for the supervision, assignment, and coordination of the refueling resources to support safe, reliable, and efficient outage activities consistent with Vistra Fleet and station goals. Responsible for coordinating resources both internally to Refueling Services as well as support organizations to ensure work schedules are completed during off outage work windows. Support other organizations such as new fuel receipt and dry cask storage.
Job Description
Key Accountabilities
- Qualify as a Vistra First Line Supervisor and be responsible for day-to-day supervision of the assigned Refueling Services personnel as well as contractor personnel supporting Refueling Services.
- Effectively supervise craft personnel to assure all assigned maintenance activities are performed safely and effectively, by qualified workers, and in accordance with procedures, NRC regulations and the site(s) schedule.
- Participate in various aspects of work control coordination, scheduling, and engineering meetings involving online and refuel outage activities, to ensure that assigned work is properly assigned, planned and ready to work.
- Effectively communicate and address plant and personnel issues to the Site Refueling Services Manager and station management.
- Foster an environment of open communications and collaboration between all organizations including site management, INPO, and regulatory agencies.
- Administer coaching, mentoring, and performance management for assigned employees.
- Ensure effective communication of company programs, announcements, policies, etc to assigned employees.
- Understand, support, and administer all Vistra processes, such as the training program, surveillance program, procedure revisions, and CAP to ensure effective work practices.
- Work with the Site Manager and Technical Assistant to Identify and support improvement opportunities.
- Support the maintenance on the fuel handling equipment to include PM schedules, corrective maintenance tracking, and upgrade implementation.
- Supervise maintenance on the rector services tooling to include PM schedules, corrective maintenance tracking, upgrades, and replacements. Coordinate with RP / decon to support RCA work to perform tooling rebuilds and work.
- Support tooling assessments to validate fleet tooling needs to ensure that tooling going forward is consistent across the Vistra fleet and synergies are maximized.
- Support the Technical Assistant in providing firsthand user experience to assist with the development of engineering change packages.
- Provide technical expertise and consultation through direct involvement to identify and resolve equipment and system problems.
- Identify equipment issues and create notifications to track equipment issues to ensure the reliable performance of head area maintenance and underwater tooling and equipment.
- As needed provide input to assist with the preparation of plans and specifications.
- Work as part of the fleet team to evaluate Reactor Services activities and recommend equipment, new concepts and techniques to improve performance, reduce costs, correct design, or improve worker safety.
- As requested, provide input to assist with planning for work orders for site Refueling Services.
- Provide input and assist with the review of the Refueling Services outage schedule.
- Perform safety and human performance observations of Refueling Services personnel during outage and non-outage work periods, coach and correct behavior gaps.
- Must be willing to travel to other Vistra Nuclear Plants in support of outages, dry cask storage, and outage prep activities. Additional travel may be required for training at various OEM facilities as well as benchmarking opportunities at workshops and other utilities.
- All other job assignments and/or duties pursuant to company policy as approved by the Site Refueling Services Manager.
- Support outages as needed to assist in delivering outage goals. Attend outage readiness meetings as required.
- Recognizing outages periods are the highest risk period for Nuclear safety; Assist the Site Manager to drive readiness to minimize risk.
- Support applicable Outage Milestone closure and adherence to ensure work readiness
- Support a pool ERO position
Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements
REQUIRED:
- Vistra Level 3 Refueling Services Technician with 3 years of Level 3 experience OR,
- Four-year technical degree with five years of Refueling Services or Nuclear Plant Maintenance experience OR
- Two-year technical degree with 7 years of Refueling Services or Nuclear Plant Maintenance experience OR
- HS diploma with 7 years of Refueling Services or Nuclear Plant Maintenance experience OR
- Navy Nuclear Supervisor or equivalent with 5 years of Refueling Services or Nuclear Plant Maintenance experience
- Nuclear Utility Supervisor or equivalent with 5 years of supervisory experience
- Capable of passing a respirator physical
- Work in radiological protective clothing while wearing a PAPR for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- OEM training in Refueling Services
- Fuel Handling Qualifications, Experience and/or Knowledge (advanced industrial maintenance experience and knowledge may be substituted)
- Knowledge of Lifting, Rigging and Material Handling Industry Standards
- Proficient and knowledgeable in typical IT applications, Microsoft Office Suite, Work Management Software (Maximo), Scheduling Software (P6), etc.
