Job Summary: Marine Corps Community Services (MCCS) is looking for the best and brightest to join our Team! Major Duties:
- Incumbent is assigned to the Boathouse, Marina and Marine Rental, Gear Issue, and Vehicle Storage departments. Performs and/or assists in the operation of the recreation activity in planning, scheduling, publicizing various activities to attract and motivate participants, and maintain related supplies. Typical assignments may include both indoor and outdoor activities. Indoor Activities include front desk operations such as opening and closing facilities, facility safeguarding and tidiness, working as a cashier, takes reservations, receives receipts and reports moneys at the end of their shift. Checks for proper I.D. and patron eligibility. Ensures all information, i.e. flyers, price list, boat rules, bulletin boards, etc. are current, available and neatly arranged. Responsible for taking Marina, dry storage, Vehicle Storage and pavilion rentals/reservations. Outdoor Activities responsibilities include inspecting and maintaining docks and all rental equipment and watercraft to ensure proper working conditions. This includes routine maintenance, preparing boats for rent (e.g., warming-up, bilging), and verifying safety equipment is available and functional. Employees conduct inventory of all rental items, ensuring patrons have valid reservations, payments are made, and gear is returned satisfactorily. Staff are also responsible for securing, storing, and inspecting returned equipment and watercraft, and reporting any damage to the Marina Manager. Duties include fueling boats, filling portable gas tanks, operating vehicles to retrieve boats, and performing cleaning and minor maintenance tasks such as scrubbing marine growth. Employees may operate the rescue boat when rental vessels experience mechanical issues and assist customers at the docks to ensure safe departures and arrivals. Provides tours of Vehicle and RV Storage lots to potential customers, monitoring and maintaining the cleanliness and security of the lot and ensuring accurate documentation and proper space allocation for stored vehicles. Additional duties involve responding to inquiries, resolving issues related to storage spaces, payments, or policies, and overseeing the check-in and check-out processes for RVs, boats, and trailers. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Recreation Assistants are assigned the dual responsibility of enforcing and being aware of boat and water safety. It is their assignment to ensure that all patrons are aware of and abide by Marina rules and regulations and to teach and instruct patrons in the use of related equipment such as life vests, fishing gear, kayaks, and operation of our marina water crafts. Provides World Class Customer Service with an emphasis on courtesy. Assists customers and communicates positively in a friendly manner. Takes action to solve problems quickly. Alerts the higher-level supervisor, or proper point of contact for help when problems arise. Adheres to safety regulations and standards. Promptly reports any observed workplace hazards, and any injury, occupational illness, and/or property damage resulting from workplace mishaps to the immediate supervisor. Adheres to established standards of actively supporting the principles of the EEO program and prevention of sexual harassment. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Minimum one year experience in a related recreational activity. Skill to demonstrate activities and use of related facility equipment. Skill to learn applicable MCCS policies and procedures. Ability to qualify in basic first aid and CPR. This is a mixed position where the incumbent must be able to lift and carry objects up to 45lbs independently and objects over 45lbs with assistance. Must have a valid driver¿s license.
