What is the opportunity?

To be part of the Operations Control team as a Reconciliation Associate. This team is accountable for reconciling cash balances, transactions, positions (stock and listed derivatives), and intra-system positions.

We provide value by investigating and timely resolving differences, producing reconciliation reporting, and recommending and implementing operational improvements.

RBC’s expectation is that all employees and contractors will work in the office with some flexibility to work up to 1 day per week remotely, depending on working arrangements.

What will you do?

  • Perform daily reconciliations of cash, positions, and transactions between internal data and external parties, including custodians, clearing agents, and prime brokers, adhering to established timelines.

  • Identify and manage discretionary system improvements to increase efficiency and mitigate risk.

  • Work closely with external vendors to understand trade flow requirements, bank ledger postings, and cash payment deadlines.

  • Assist in resolving position issues raised by Investment Teams or Finance, investigating as necessary to identify the root cause.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to support the full client lifecycle, starting with fund onboarding.

  • Review daily processes to identify and address any trends or concerns with breaks.

  • Taking full ownership, demonstrating awareness of system upgrades, enhancements, and potential regulatory breaches.

  • Contribute to ad-hoc and scheduled projects as we migrate to new platforms, driving process improvements.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Experience in a Reconciliation Analyst role or similar position within the financial services industry, with a particular focus on cash and stock reconciliations preferred.

  • Prior use of reconciliation systems such as SmartStream TLM, Intellimatch, Broadridge, or similar tools.

  • Ability to operate within a control framework under time sensitive deadlines.

  • Strong organisational skills.

  • Good communication and analytical skills, with a keen attention to detail.

  • A proactive mindset focused on continuous improvement and process enhancements.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, taking ownership of assigned tasks.

Nice-to-have

  • Familiarity with exposure reconciliation through Tri-Resolve.

  • Experience with EMIR portfolio reconciliation.

  • Knowledge of fixed-income assets and derivative products.

  • Working knowledge of MT535/MT940/MT950 SWIFT messages and custodian flat files used for reconciliation. Experience with MX message base is advantageous.
