The R&D Test Technician (S3) supports the setup, execution, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of production test systems used for high-tech products such as complex electronics, embedded systems, and integrated electromechanical devices. This role performs a broad range of test activities, identifies process issues, and partners closely with engineers and technicians to maintain high throughput and quality. The S3 technician plays a key role in driving stability and responsiveness in a fast-paced production environment and may train or mentor less experienced team members.
Set up, operate, and maintain production test equipment, instrumentation, and fixtures in accordance with test procedures and schedules.
Execute functional and diagnostic tests on components, assemblies, and systems; document and escalate failures as needed.
Perform first-level troubleshooting of test failures, equipment malfunctions, or test process deviations; collaborate with engineering to support root cause investigations.
Support implementation of test process improvements, equipment upgrades, and documentation updates.
Monitor production line test data for trends or anomalies and raise potential issues proactively.
Train and assist junior technicians on proper test procedures, safety protocols, and troubleshooting methods.
Ensure test environments are audit-ready by maintaining calibration, cleanliness, and compliance with quality and safety standards.

Strong understanding of electronic testing fundamentals and familiarity with oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, and automated testers.
Working knowledge of standard production test processes and safety protocols in a high-tech manufacturing environment.
Ability to read and follow schematics, wiring diagrams, assembly drawings, and test documentation.
Skilled in using software interfaces for test equipment and basic troubleshooting tools (e.g., test logs, error codes, configuration settings).
Organized and detail-oriented; capable of managing multiple tasks while maintaining accuracy and quality.
Effective communicator with the ability to work with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, and quality.
Associate degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Engineering Technology, or equivalent technical training.
3+ years of experience in a test or manufacturing support role within the high-tech industry.
Experience in executing and maintaining production test systems for electromechanical or electronic products.
Familiarity with ESD safety, calibration standards, and lean manufacturing practices.
