Tasks and Responsibilities:
Conducts chemical analyses, chemical syntheses, preparation of polyurethane foams, and product performance testing
Performs, with guidance, routine testing by chemical, instrumental and physical testing procedures.
Records and maintains accurate records of results in conjunction with protocols and procedures.
Completes as necessary customary documentation and enters test data into records or systems as required.
Performs routine maintenance and calibration on lab equipment to assure compliance with normal lab operations testing.
Normally receives minimal instruction on routine work and general instructions on new assignments.
Contributes to the department and site Environmental Health and Safety goals.
Assists with project coordination and special assignments as necessary to assure timely completion of testing in accordance with existing timelines.

Key Metrics Role is Accountable for:
Safe operations, ISO compliance, equipment maintenance/upgrading.
Support of NPI sales, % Vitality, %SGM for NPI
Support sales of existing products in the marketplace
Support manufacturing and quality departments
Ability / interest to independently run / maintain pilot scale equipment
Key Relationships:
Application development interactions with sales, marketing, process development and manufacturing.
External support for new applications and customer sales support.
The following are required for the role
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry
Strong personal and professional commitment to Environmental Health and Safety (EHS), including the ability to wear required protective equipment
Comfortable working with laboratory equipment and machinery
Proficient in Microsoft Office and general PC functions
Familiar with basic statistical analysis
Able to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently when needed
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Solid math and reading comprehension skills
Capable of managing multiple tasks and collaborating effectively with team members
Demonstrated customer service mindset and professional attitude
Physically able to lift and carry containers up to 40 lbs (such as full 5-gallon cans)
Willingness to occasionally work extended hours when needed
