As a Radiation Therapist, you will implement plans of treatment created by an Oncologist and Medical Dosimetrist to help combat diseases and cancers. Your work can also help prevent the recurrence of particularly malignant forms of cancer after they have been removed during surgery. This role is critical to the comprehensive care Cleveland Clinic provides patients, and you can make a lasting difference in their lives every day.
A caregiver in this position works from 7:00am – 3:30pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Determine and deliver appropriate patient treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and dosimetrists.
Monitor and document patient's condition and report any adverse reactions.
Assess and educate patients according to specific department protocols.
Position patients and select anatomic/technical parameters accurately.
Check and adjust necessary equipment, including linear accelerator.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate of a CAHEA approved School of Radiation Therapy Technology or registry eligible
Registered Radiation Therapist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist [R.T.(R)(T)(ARRT)] in good standing.
Current state licensure as a Radiation Therapist
Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
Experience with radiation oncology specific electronic medical records
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Experience with external Radiation Therapy, IMRT, IGRT and CT simulation

Physical Requirements:
Requires ability to perform duties while walking, standing, stooping, reaching and lifting.
Requires ability to lift materials weighing up to 35 lbs.
Requires ability to push/pull over 100 lbs.
Requires dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions.
Requires Safe Operating Procedure for x-ray generating equipment.
Requires ability to work the hours of operation - flexible.
Requires ability to take "call" on weekdays and weekends based on a rotational schedule.
Requires ability to float to other CCHS facilities when needed.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
