Job Summary: You will serve as a RADIATION HEALTH PROGRAM TECHNICIAN in the HEALTH PHYSICS BRANCH - 105.54 of PEARL HARBOR NSY AND IMF. The Secretary of Defense has ordered a department-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the DoD hiring freeze. Major Duties:

  • You will audit, analyze and interpret occupational exposure records.
  • You will review complete medical records and research laboratory and other test results and medical histories to determine if they are correctly correlated with diagnostic notations to ensure that the record is clear and comprehensive.
  • You will review dosimetry results, exposure investigations, dose assessments, special records and reports to verify that they are properly transferred to the individual radiation exposure records.
  • You will make recommendations concerning improvements or modifications to procedures that will improve the clarity and accuracy of individual radiation exposure records entries.
  • You will verify that disqualified or temporarily restricted workers are identified, appropriate actions and notifications made, and timely follow-up and documentation of the ultimate disposition of these cases are completed.
  • You will prepare and submit transactions to establish, update, correct, change and/or delete radiation exposure records and to place workers in an active or inactive status as requested by Shipyard Supervisor/Manager.
  • You will provide guidance on procedural and regulatory requirements concerning all aspects of radiation physical examinations.
  • You will maintain radiation exposure records of shipyard personnel on TDY to other commands and of visitors to the activity.
  • You will keep management informed of new or revised administrative and program policies, regulations, and procedures that affect the internal administrative controls and functions of the organization.
  • You will provide administration and management support by independently planning, performing, and coordinating all functions necessary for the efficient operation of the organization's radiation health program.

Qualifications: GS-08: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the (GS-07) grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing clerical and/or technical support of a health program, assisting with automated database input, reviewing records for compliance and completeness, and resolving discrepancies pertaining to records.
