Job Purpose:
Reporting into the site’s Quality Technical and Validation Lead, the Quality Technology and Facilities Manager oversees the quality aspects of site technologies and facilities (including Manufacturing Science and Technology (MSAT), Engineering and Logistics) to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, operational efficiency, and alignment with GSK standards.
This role drives implementation, validation, and maintenance of technology systems and facility operations. In delivering your role you will foster continuous improvement and robust quality processes, whilst working cross-functionally to optimise facility performance, support audits and inspections to ensure readiness for evolving regulatory expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Oversee quality compliance for site technologies and facilities (MSAT, engineering and logistics) to ensure systems and operations meet regulatory requirements and GXP standards.
• Manage technology implementation so systems are robust, compliant and optimised for operational efficiency.
• Manage facility-related quality initiatives, including maintenance, upgrades and validation, ensuring alignment with organisational and regulatory standards.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams to evaluate and enhance facility and technology performance, and to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure technology systems and facilities documentation is accurate, compliant and audit-ready.
• Support internal and external audits, acting as primary point of contact for quality aspects of site technologies and facilities.
• Monitor facility and technology metrics to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement, and report insights to site management.
• Provide training, development and guidance to staff on quality requirements for site technologies and facilities (fostering engagement and building capabilities across teams).
• Benchmark site practices against GSK sites and industry leaders to implement best practice to optimise technology and facility operations.
• Work closely with senior site management to align technology and facility quality initiatives with broader organisational and operational aims.
About You:
As this role is multi-faceted and includes liaising with a wide variety of on-site production and operations teams, you will be a self-motivated person who has experience of working in a quality function and / or manufacturing at a complex highly-regulated manufacturing site. You will be resilient and calm under pressure, with strong people skills and a proven ability to influence people to achieve and drive performance. You will have a strong continuous improvement mindset. Effective written and verbal communication and excellent interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to organise and prioritise workload are considered essential skills.

GSK Barnard Castle is a key secondary manufacturing site. We have invested heavily in industry 4.0 state of the art bespoke equipment to support sustained new product introductions and volume increases. As a key supplier of some of GSK’s blockbuster products the site contributes revenues of ~$2Bn annually.
