Job Description Summary:

The Lead APP Acute Care - Shift Level 2 helps create a collaborative culture as a frontline resource and peer-level leader. The Lead APP provides input on processes, serves as a support function for management, and provides insight and advocacy to their APP group. The Lead APP spends a majority of time providing direct patient care in collaboration with physician partners and the multidisciplinary team specific to practice area.

Responsibilities And Duties:

The Lead APP:
•          Maintains a robust clinical practice as defined by the clinical job description. Direct patient care is         expected to be 90% of Lead APP role. Flexibility of time allocation is based on varying needs and responsibilities.  
•          Collaborates with leadership to support APPs. Examples include, but are not limited to:
       Serving as a role model by demonstrating OhioHealth’s mission, vision, and values
       Championing top of license practice within clinical specialty
       Serving as a team mentor
       Serving as a front-line resource for the APP practice area
       Serving as a liaison to relay of information impacting APPs
       Promoting evidenced based practice and lifelong learning
       Participating in cultural and organizational activities that support OhioHealth
       Participating in recruiting, developing, and retaining skilled APPs for their respective practice area
       Participating in meetings and councils as appropriate 
       Establishing and maintaining schedules that support the business and clinical needs of the practice area
       Supporting management in maintaining compliance with practice requirements
       Supporting management in performance and clinical evaluation process
       Facilitating credentialing, onboarding, orientation of APPs, and quality initiatives

Minimum Qualifications:

APP - Advanced Practice Provider - State of Ohio Board of Nursing, BLS - Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, RN - Registered Nurse - Ohio Board of Nursing

Additional Job Description:

  • Master's degree in nursing or physician associate studies.

  • Current licensure as NP or PA in Ohio.

  • National certification (e.g., ANCC, AANP, NCCPA).

  • Minimum 3-5 years of clinical experience, preferably in critical care or acute care.

  • Demonstrated experience in quality improvement and education.

  • Strong analytical, presentation, and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and healthcare data systems.
