Quality Engineer

Leidos is seeking a Quality Engineer to support the Maritime System Division (MSD) in Long Beach, MS, an ISO 9001 certified facility. MSD is aligned within the Leidos Defense Systems Sector under the Sea Systems business unit. The scope of the business activities at the facility includes development and deployment of advanced technology solutions that address existing and emerging maritime missions of national importance for a broad range of customers across the Department of Defense, Intelligence Community, other governmental agencies and commercial clients.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Perform program quality planning
  • Analyze program QA requirements, support the development of test procedures and inspection checklists
  • Participate in design and program reviews to ensure quality attributes are incorporated into product designs and process plans.
  • Review and approve new and revised drawings
  • Review and approve new and revised process plans
  • Perform quality inspections of components, subassemblies and completed assemblies
  • Witness required testing per approved test procedures, document findings
  • Document nonconforming materials and coordinate the material reviews and dispositions
  • Support the collection of Quality Metrics
  • Work with program teams and site leadership to proactively work corrective actions and opportunities for improvement, and ensure timely completion as required by Leidos policies
  • Analyze non-conformance trends to evaluate the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support the conduct and documentation of internal quality audits for the site, report results & document findings
  • Provide guidance and work with programs to establish root cause(s) and corrective actions for findings and requirement escapes
  • Review and provide input to program plans and other program documents in support of document accuracy and on-time delivery
  • Support proposal activities to ensure quality requirements and hours are documented and estimated properly for the scope of the work
  • Coordinate RMA returns and initiate and track supplier corrective action activity
  • Maintain approved supplier list and support supplier ratings

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 4-8 years of prior relevant experience; or master’s with 2-6 years of prior relevant experience 
  • Ability to manage many activities simultaneously
  • Self-starter with attention to detail / observant
  • Strong communication and analytical skills
  • Able to interpret written specifications and drawings
  • Experience in performance of quality audits, root cause analysis and test witnessing
  • Continuous improvement experience in leading innovative changes
  • Must be a US citizen
  • Must be proficient in using Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, & Project)
  • Working knowledge of the ISO 9001:2015 standard

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Lean Six-Sigma Green or Black Belt
  • Formal auditor training
  • Experience working in a hardware manufacturing environment
  • Experience performing ISO 9001 or AS9100 Quality Audits
  • Experience with Windchill PLM system
  • Experience with ERP system
  • Experience with Solumina MES

Pay Range:

Pay Range $72,150.00 - $130,425.00
