About the Role

As Fleet Manager, you’ll oversee day-to-day PUD operations, ensuring service levels and DIFOT targets are met through smart asset utilization, team leadership, and seamless collaboration with line-haul and handling teams. You’ll be instrumental in maintaining fleet integrity, upholding safety standards, and supporting strategic growth.

Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

  • Manage PUD operations across two Melbourne locations

  • Oversee fleet maintenance and ensure compliance with TGE standards

  • Lead staff training, development, and compliance programs

  • Drive performance across key metrics (e.g., load utilization, tonnes/hour)

  • Minimize outside hire and optimize asset usage

Safety & Compliance

  • Champion OH&S legislation and internal safety policies

  • Conduct regular safety audits and toolbox talks

  • Ensure compliance in fatigue management, load restraint, DG handling, and scanning

Financial & Resource Management

  • Control operational costs and manage driver overtime

  • Recommend capital replacements and support innovation

  • Monitor budget performance and volume trends

Team & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Lead and mentor direct reports

  • Collaborate with Sales, Account Managers, and HSE teams

  • Foster strong employee relations and succession planning

  • Support client retention and revenue growth

What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years’ experience managing large PUD fleets

  • Deep knowledge of transport operations, regulations, and KPIs

  • Proven leadership in safety, compliance, and team development

  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook

  • Experience with dangerous goods and OH&S legislation

  • Strong commercial acumen and P&L management

  • Valid driver’s license
