As Refresh and Trading Projects Commercial Manager you will play a key role in overseeing the financial and contractual elements within key Property and Construction workstreams across the Asda estate.
You will collaborate and build strong day to day relationships with multiple stakeholders including Property, Finance, Construction Managers, Project Managers / PMO’s, QS and external suppliers and consultants to ensure projects are delivered within agreed commercial frameworks. You will play a lead role in developing and managing Asda’s refresh and trading projects ways of working, driving Value Engineering and cost effectiveness, and work closely with procurement to ensure robust commercial tenders and frameworks.
You will be part of a large cross functional team, so you will have a strong, collaborative work ethic and enjoy developing and building working relationships. This role provides many opportunities to further develop your behavioural capabilities, providing plenty of exposure within the business and with our key stakeholders.
You Will:
Be a key business partner working alongside the Construction SDs and delivery teams to drive robust cost management, and commercial agreement with suppliers, contractors and consultants to always ensure best value.
Be integral in the construction implementation teams programme from start to finish ensuring robust business cases to create buy-in and engagement with key leadership including VP's and CFO.
Manage a team of external QS's to ensure consistent and value-added input into cost and change management from initial feasibility estimates through to final project close out. You will prepare board and department sign off approval papers working cross functional across construction, design and finance teams
Work closely with the function to support and shape our strategic 3-5 business planning process, identifying the capital and commercial requirements to deliver this.
Coordinate and manage any communication related to cost, budget and invoicing between internal and external stakeholders for weekly and monthly reporting.
Work closely with our shared services team to drive robust order, receipting and valuations processes.
Help to lead, shape and drive the delivery of the cost management of your key workstreams.

Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field.
Professional membership with RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or equivalent is preferred.
Cost, QS's and/or commercial management experience from within practice, client side and / or a retail background is preferred.
Management experience, with evidence of developing junior team members.
You must have demonstrable ability to manage and deliver against challenging cost targets
Excellent negotiation skills, financial acumen, and ability to work with complex budgets.
Excellent interpersonal skills to manage stakeholder relationships and provide clear financial guidance to
Willingness to manage multiple projects with cross-program responsibilities, meeting tight deadlines while maintaining a focus on quality and cost control
You will be a forward thinker with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
