The Project Manager for Visualization, Interactivity & Simulation (VIS), oversees the coordination of interdisciplinary research projects in areas such as digital twins, advanced manufacturing, virtual production, digital humans, and spatial computing. The role ensures projects remain on track by monitoring schedules, budgets, and resources while keeping deliverables aligned with sponsor requirements. Serving as the key link between faculty, staff, students, and external collaborators, the Project Manager facilitates communication, organizes workflows, and maintains clear documentation. In addition, the position supports proposal development and reporting, helping research teams secure funding and meet compliance standards. By combining organizational skills with an understanding of technical and creative research environments, the Project Manager enables teams to deliver impactful results.
Job Responsibilities:
Project Coordination & Oversight: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, milestones, and deliverables. Monitor project progress, identify dependencies, and flag potential delays.
Provide day-to-day guidance to graduate students; track progress and give constructive feedback to ensure successful project completion. 30%
Proposal & Grant Support: Assist in proposal development by gathering technical descriptions, timelines, and budget information. Compile documentation required by funding agencies, ensuring compliance with sponsor guidelines.
Interpret and apply funding requirements from federal agencies. (25%)
External Stakeholder Communication: Serve as liaison between faculty investigators, technical staff, students, and external collaborators. Organize and facilitate project meetings, preparing agendas, minutes, and action items. (15%)
Budget & Resource Tracking: Track and monitor expenditures, staffing, and resource allocations. Provide periodic budget updates and variance reports. (15%)
Reporting & Documentation: Prepare and submit progress reports in accordance with sponsor requirements. Maintain project documentation, including workflow records, meeting notes, and version logs. (10%)
Other duties as assigned. (5%)
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience in a relevant field.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree and 3 or more years of experience in a relevant field. Prior experience working with externally funded research grants and agencies. Experience managing technical or R&D projects, tracking budgets, scheduling, and working with interdisciplinary teams.
