The role
As the Project & Management Officer at Damen Naval, you'll be the driving force behind the efficient and effective execution of complex shipbuilding projects. Your primary responsibility is managing and optimizing project processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and facilitating seamless communication among all project stakeholders. You ensure our projects are delivered on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards

Key accountabilities
In this role, your responsibilities will include:

  • Process Optimization: Developing, implementing, and maintaining standardized management processes and procedures for projects and business (line management). You will continuously assess and improve project management methodologies to enhance project efficiency and quality.

  • Project Monitoring & Reporting: Supporting the monitoring of project timelines, budgets, and performance metrics, and creating and maintaining essential project documentation (plans, status reports, and risk assessments). You will also generate regular reports for senior management.

  • Stakeholder Alignment: Acting as a liaison between project managers and senior management to ensure alignment on project objectives and facilitating smooth, effective communication among project teams, subcontractors, and external stakeholders.

  • Quality & Risk Management: Collaborating with Quality Assurance and Control teams to establish, maintain, and improve quality standards. You will work with the Risk Manager and project teams to develop mitigation plans and proactively monitor and assess project risks.

  • Compliance & Innovation: Ensuring that all projects comply with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies (including HSSEQ). You stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and contribute to evaluating new technologies for improved manufacturing process control, quality, and cost reduction.


Skills & experience
We are looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in a technical field of study with a minimum of 3 years of process management experience in complex manufacturing or shipbuilding projects.

  • Extensive knowledge of the principles and techniques of Industrial Engineering.

  • Good command of the Dutch and English language, both written and verbal, is essential.

  • Awareness of the need for significant business travel/work abroad; this may be frequent, of long duration, and/or intercontinental.

  • Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.

  • Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with both an EU and non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible in accordance with the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
