Role description:
The Project HSE Advisor will be responsible for activities related to environmental health and safety for our Girrahween IPP Project, located near Miles in regional southern Queensland. This position is offered as a DIDO role if located locally, of FIFO out of Brisbane.
Responsibilities
Support the implementation of key business HSE improvement projects
Monitor and ensure compliance to relevant HSE legislation, client procedures and policies and internal requirements
Support accident and incident investigations in relation to all incident reports (Accidents and Risks) and follow up on outstanding actions as required
Carry out site HSE inspections and ensure that corrective actions are highlighted and managed
Provide proactive support and guidance on all HSE related issues within the site
Identify relevant HSE training requirements for all affected personnel
Implement effective HSE communications and employee consultation
Build effective relationships with internal, sub contractor and client stakeholders
Passionately champion all aspects of HSE on site
Ensure compliance to HSE Risk Assessments.
Identify continual improvement opportunities, and support implementation
What we’re looking for
A relevant qualification (e.g. Diploma) in HSE or equivalent
Previous experience as a Project HSE Advisor, in a hands on, on-site setting (ideally around 5 years or longer)
Working knowledge of HSE tools / systems, with experience in incident reporting using 5W, TapRooT, ICAM or similar
A strong background in HSE compliance management; providing advice and training on safety protocols and conducting audits to ensure compliance with relevant organisation and government standards
Ability to develop and implement policies and practices to identify/mitigate hazardous conditions and HSE risks
Experience in incident investigation; able to assist and support the project team during investigation and liaising with engineers, management, and health and safety regulatory authorities to identify causes of accidents and prevent their recurrence.
Strong communication skills and the ability to establish and maintain excellent relationships with a variety of stakeholders and organisations
A track record in working closely with project teams to ensure project planning, delivery through to implementation follows safety standards and procedures
Understanding of relevant Queensland HSE legislation
