In this Role

You will lead strategic monitoring initiatives across enterprise-scale infrastructure environments, driving the unified observability strategy for compute, storage, and cloud systems. This position combines deep technical program management expertise with hands-on leadership in deploying and optimizing monitoring platforms such as Splunk and Azure Monitoring. You’ll partner closely with engineering, operations, and vendor stakeholders to deliver scalable, compliant, and cost-effective observability solutions that accelerate incident response and enhance system reliability.

Responsibilities

Strategic Program Leadership

  • Define and execute a multi-phase deployment roadmap for enterprise monitoring and observability tools.

  • Establish governance frameworks, OKRs, and risk management strategies for global monitoring initiatives.

  • Drive program execution to deliver measurable outcomes and “quick wins,” such as rapid Splunk deployment and integration.

Unified Monitoring Strategy

  • Partner with infrastructure teams (compute, storage, Linux, cloud, etc.) to implement a cohesive monitoring and alerting framework.

  • Align observability metrics with SLOs, SLIs, and incident management objectives.

Splunk Deployment & Integration

  • Lead large-scale deployment, configuration, and integration of Splunk (Enterprise or ITSI) within hybrid cloud and high-performance environments.

  • Ensure scalability, security, and compliance across all data ingestion and monitoring pipelines.

Cross-Functional Enablement

  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and service teams to onboard data sources, standardize alerting, and build actionable dashboards.

  • Promote best practices for proactive monitoring, automation, and continuous optimization.

Governance & Optimization

  • Define KPIs, data retention, and compliance standards for observability data.

  • Optimize ingestion, indexing, and search performance for scalability and cost efficiency.

Vendor & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Manage relationships with monitoring platform vendors, including licensing, support, and roadmap alignment.

  • Communicate program status, risks, and achievements to executive stakeholders.

Incident Management & Enablement

  • Enhance observability platforms to support predictive analytics and faster root cause identification.

  • Lead documentation and training efforts to enable operational excellence across teams.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in technical program management within large-scale, enterprise infrastructure environments.

  • Proven success in deploying and managing Splunk (Enterprise or ITSI) and Azure Monitoring at scale.

  • Strong understanding of hybrid cloud architectures and high-performance computing (HPC) environments.

  • Deep familiarity with observability and monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, and Dynatrace.

  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and cross-functional leadership skills.

  • Working knowledge of SRE principles and incident management frameworks.

  • Relevant certifications such as PMP, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), or Splunk Certified Admin/Architect.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with automation and orchestration tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Background in Azure, AWS, or GCP integrations for hybrid cloud monitoring.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead programs that balance technical depth, governance, and stakeholder alignment.

Salary Range 

Pay ranges vary based on multiple factors including, without limitation, skill sets, education, responsibilities, experience, and geographical market. The pay range for this position reflects geographic based ranges for Washington state: $140,000 - $150,000 USD/annually. The salary/wage and job title for this opening will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience and may be outside this range.
