What We Want

Honors Academy is seeking a driven and experienced Program Coordinator I to work with Honors Student Council and to advise students pursuing university-level transcript distinctions. Time management, flexibility, meticulous organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are crucial for success in this position. We need an individual who is creative and able to develop materials needed to support program offerings, and enjoys leading initiatives. We are looking for someone who has a positive attitude and values collaboration. Our selected candidate will subscribe to and support efforts to promote a sense of belonging for all students at Texas A&M. What You Need to Know

Salary: $45,000.00/annually

Location: This position is located on-site in College Station, TX.

Essential Duties/Tasks

HONORS ADVISING:

  • Recruits and advises prospective students about Honors opportunities.

  • Advises Honors Academy students on weaving distinction requirements into their degree plan.

  • Advises Honors Academy students on relevant opportunities for challenge and enrichment.

 

COORDINATION OF HONORS STUDENT COUNCIL:

  • Serves as primary advisor to HSC, ensuring that they comply with applicable rules and laws.

  • Approves expenditures and reviews contracts.

  • Guides election and appointment of representatives to Honors Student Council. Coordinates meetings, assists with meeting logistics and publicity.

  • Assists with the Pan-Honors First-year Leadership Organization (PHFLO).

 

PROGRAM FACILITATION:

  • Participates in office-wide activities such as meetings, Honors Welcome, Recognition Ceremony, Family Weekend Brunch, and application review.

  • Provides review and feedback or scoring on applications, ePortfolio submissions, professional development reflections, Dean’s Excellence Award applications, and other Honors program requirements.

 

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:

  • Engages in appropriate professional development opportunities.

  • Participates in relevant professional organizations.

  • Makes travel arrangements and tracks budget.

  

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two years of office administration, program coordination, or closely related experience.

  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree and one year of related experience such as advising, recruiting, or housing.

  • Three years related experience such as advising, recruiting, or housing.

  • Honors, undergraduate research, or other related high-impact program experience.

  • Experience advising, mentoring, recruiting or teaching high-achieving university students. Demonstrated evidence of a team-oriented, professional mindset with the experience and ability to be a creative problem-solver.

  • Confident in making informed decisions.

  • Vision of programming and leadership development for upper-division Honors students.

  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to manage an organization.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
