Purpose of Role: The Industrial Painter is responsible for ensuring high-quality surface finishing and painting of parts while ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards. Responsibilities include preparing parts, mixing and applying coatings to specification, maintaining equipment and spray booths, managing supply inventory, and adhering to Weir’s Environmental, Health, and Safety policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Wash part with solvent prior to painting to remove oil finish.

  • Responsible for Environmental, Health and Safety management and policy commitments as prescribed for this role in Weir’s Duty of Care.

  • Apply grease, masking tape, or cover to finished surface to prevent over spray.

  • Position part in spray booth on table or using hoist.

  • Mix special paint for spraying to specification, following manufacturer's instructions.

  • Fill spray tanks, setting pressure gages to proper level.

  • Adjust spray gun to obtain required finish, coverage, and economy.

  • Clean spray gun and tanks using solvent.

  • Clean and replace filter in spray booth.

  • Maintain inventory of supplies and submit requisition to replenish stock.

Job Knowledge:

  • Ability to understand written and verbal instruction and communicate effectively with the team.

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 

  • Basic computer operation skills

Education and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

  • 6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Compensation: $21.50 per hour starting rate.
