The Production Supervisor leads people and technical resources in an assigned assembly area to deliver high‑quality products on schedule. You will coach and develop your team, drive daily shop‑floor performance, and apply lean methods to continuously improve productivity, quality and safety.
- Lead, coach and develop assembly staff in line with TRUMPF policies and TUS rules and the Employee Handbook. Model professional behaviour and high personal standards.
- Create and manage staffing plans: shift assignments, rotations, vacations, back‑ups and on‑the‑job training. Prepare and execute individual development and training plans, with emphasis on safety training compliance.
- Plan daily production activities, monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and adjust resources to meet customer schedules and delivery targets.
- Ensure product quality by enforcing quality processes, training employees on quality reporting, initiating and driving corrective actions, and cooperating with QC on calibration and tool readiness.
- Forecast department needs for staffing, training and equipment; support hiring activities and resource allocation with department management.
- Apply lean principles and continuous improvement tools (5S, Kaizen, PDCA, etc.) to reduce waste, increase throughput and improve first‑pass yield.
- Maintain accurate production and personnel records; conduct performance coaching, annual reviews and recommend merit increases.
- Develop and update standard operating procedures, work instructions and organizational practices to improve safety and operational efficiency.
- Minimum: 4‑year technical degree OR equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
- Proven experience supervising production teams in a manufacturing or assembly environment.
- Strong experience with project management and lean manufacturing methodologies.
- Proficiency with SAP or other MRP/ERP systems is a plus.
- Excellent communication, analytical and problem‑solving skills; able to prioritize and respond to varying levels of urgency.
- Self‑starter who is organized, motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
- Prior supervisory experience within sheet‑metal, laser, electronics, or machine‑tool assembly environments.
- Hands‑on experience with quality systems (ISO) and calibration processes.
- Demonstrated success driving productivity improvements and meeting production KPIs.
