Production Supervisor

Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Production Supervisor to lead production of Precision Optics at our Mulgrave site. This role is critical to ensuring operational continuity and excellence for producing the core technology used in Agilents analytical instruments. You will be responsible for driving production performance, maintaining quality standards, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. Working closely with the Production Manager and cross-functional teams, you will manage resources, optimise workflows, manage inventory, daily direction setting and supplier coordination. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on leader who thrives in a manufacturing environment and is passionate about team development and operational success. 

Shift: M-F 6:00 am - 2:30 pm . 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Oversee and communicate the daily production schedule across internal teams and cross-functional partners. 

  • Track production orders and inventory using ERP systems; resolve discrepancies. 

  • Ensure adequate inventory levels are maintained and communicate with material buyer if shortages or quality issues occur. 

  • Lead and develop a team through coaching, performance management and training coordination. 

  • Manage timecards, leave requests, onboarding and shift coverage. 

  • Optimize resource allocation and cross-training to meet production goals and ensure flexibility. 

  • Monitor production metrics (safety, quality, yield, delivery, scrap) and address deviations. 

  • Report updates in daily meetings and maintain accurate documentation across QMS and ERP platforms. 

  • Champion continuous improvement and digital innovation initiatives. 

  • Promote a clean, safe, and inclusive work environment with a strong customer and quality focus. 

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of leadership experience in a production-focused environment. 

  • Proven ability to lead teams, set goals, and drive performance. 

  • Strong problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset. 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and digital tools for data analysis and decision-making. 

  • Experience with ERP systems like SAP and quality management platforms is a plus.
