The Production Operator III at Airgas USA, LLC plays a critical role in the manufacturing and filling of industrial and specialty gases. This position is responsible for operating and monitoring sophisticated production equipment, ensuring the safe and efficient execution of production schedules, and maintaining adherence to all quality and safety standards.

  • Operate and monitor a variety of production equipment, including gas compressors, purification systems, filling manifolds, and cylinder handling machinery.

  • Perform pre-shift inspections and minor preventative maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.

  • Execute production orders according to established procedures, including cylinder filling, blending, and product analysis.

  • Monitor process parameters, gauges, and control systems, making adjustments as necessary to maintain product specifications and operational efficiency.

  • Conduct quality control checks, including cylinder leak tests, gas purity analysis, and pressure verification, documenting all results accurately.

  • Load and unload cylinders and materials using appropriate material handling equipment, such as forklifts or pallet jacks.

  • Adhere strictly to all Airgas safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements (e.g., OSHA, DOT, FDA).

  • Troubleshoot basic operational issues and escalate complex problems to supervision or maintenance personnel.

  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring compliance with 5S principles.

  • Complete all required production paperwork, logs, and electronic records accurately and in a timely manner.

  • Participate in safety meetings, training sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned by management.

Are you a MATCH?

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing, production, or industrial environment, preferably with experience in gas handling or chemical processing.

  • Proven ability to operate and troubleshoot complex machinery and process control systems.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of industrial equipment.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including P&IDs, safety data sheets (SDS), and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Basic computer proficiency for data entry and system monitoring.

  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe.

  • Ability to lift and move heavy cylinders (up to 50 lbs) and perform physical tasks requiring bending, stooping, and standing for extended periods.

  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong commitment to safety and quality.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.

The hourly base pay range for this position in California is $27.02 /hr.- $28.02 / hr. Please note that the hourly base pay information is a general guideline only. Airgas considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
