This position reports to: Operations Manager
Reporting to this position are: Production Operators / Production Supervisors
The Production Manager is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of production across all production Shifts .
The Production Manager must ensure a safe operation of the daily shift production, in line with Quality and EHS standards (e.g. guarantees that personal protective equipment is available and used), reporting any deviations from process or safety standards and must ensure that all H B Fuller quality standards are achieved in the production of finished goods.
All H. B. Fuller and local safety policies and procedures are to be followed at all times in the process of manufacturing and working within a manufacturing environment.
PRIMARY DUTIES
- Lead the entire production function shift, organizing and supervising the work of team allocated to that shift in order to meet the targets of production and ensure all products are produced to the specified specifications.
- Ensure a safe operation of the production in his area, in line with Quality and EHS standards (e.g. guarantees that personal protective equipment is available and used), reporting any deviations from process or safety standards.
- Attend to plant breakdown tasks based on priority. If in doubt communicate with Engineering Manager/Operations Manager
- Organize the shift staffing on a daily basis, taking into account organizing vacation, overtime hours etc. and reports to the Manager for all production shifts.
- Prepare raw materials and packaging, ensuring that they are ready for use and correcting and checking any inventory anomalies.
- Whenever required proper use of Work permit system to be used.
- Ensure timely booking of Finish material in system to allow dispatches.
- Report near miss within one hour of incident
- Maintain and promote 5S standards.
- Focus on continual improvement process to identify bottle neck and initiate appropriate actions.
- Carry out cost saving projects to reduce impact of Conversion cost Yield Improvement, Productivity as per defined capacity and downtime analysis to reduce / eliminate downtimes.
- Report repair requirements to the Operations Manager/Engineering and transfer of repair orders to the maintenance department
- Complete nominated tasks as per the weekly Maintenance Planning sheet
- Preventive Maintenance as per SOP & PM Check list
- Other maintenance request jobs as nominated.
- Attend to plant breakdown tasks based on priority. If in doubt communicate with Engineering Manager/Operations Manager
- Carry out any other duties which may be requested by the Operations Manager.

Minimum Requirements
- Production/Engineering Degree or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years production experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the Chemicals industry.
- Effective team based and communications skills.
- High degree literacy in the English language.
- Current forklift licence
- Basic coaching and training skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience in the manufacture of chemical products, ideally in the adhesives or allied industries.
- Exposure to a Mechanical/Chemical/Electrical environment – Mechanical Aptitude. .
- Sound understanding of Occupational Health & Safety policies and practices including government regulations and by-laws
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt , Black Belt or Master Black Belt qualification
- He/she should be fully trained in LOTO procedures
PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT
- Shift will be spent on feet – standing/walking
- Lifting required – up to 25kg
- Repetitive motions – lifting, turning while lifting, packing

- Mainly Indoors – some outdoor work required.
