Production Control Supervisor

Summary

The Production Control Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of the production control team across all manufacturing sites. This role ensures the smooth and efficient flow of parts and paperwork, coordinates with production management to support production schedules, and actively promotes safety in all areas. The supervisor communicates effectively with internal departments to achieve company goals and is responsible for ensuring the team's compliance with company policies, regulatory standards, and performance expectations.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision of Production Control Activities:

  • Supervise and direct the routine activities of the production control team, ensuring that all production control processes are executed efficiently and in accordance with company policies.
  • Ensure that tasks and responsibilities are clearly communicated to the team, including performance standards and expectations related to kit and shop order pulls, MIRs, POs, and SOW orders.
  • Foster a collaborative environment and promote teamwork to achieve production goals.
  • Assigns process improvement projects that will lead to organizational and career growth within the production control team.

Communication and Coordination:

  • Communicates the overall health of the program and any challenges to management.
  • Collaborates closely with the Planning Department to ensure the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system generates accurate and effective schedules.
    • Coordinate with production management to ensure timely kit and shop order pulls to meet production schedules.
    • Ensure proper flow and distribution of parts and paperwork in alignment with production requirements and deadlines.
    • Communicate details regarding MIRs, POs, and SOW orders, following up to confirm that delivery dates are obtainable and resolving any discrepancies.
    • Maintain open lines of communication with all relevant departments, including purchasing, engineering, and quality control, to address issues and maintain smooth production operations.

Team Management and Development:

  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with company policies, regulatory compliance, and applicable laws.
  • Oversee the hiring, training, and professional development of production control team members.
  • Assign, direct, and monitor the work of the team to ensure that production control objectives are met.
  • Appraise the performance of team members, provide constructive feedback, and implement disciplinary actions when necessary.

Other Duties:

  • Perform other duties as assigned by senior leadership, including special projects, process improvements, or temporary adjustments to team responsibilities.
  • Take initiative in solving problems and implementing improvements that contribute to achieving company goals.
  • Continuously assess and improve production control processes to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Summary of Education, Experience & Certification

High School diploma required.  Minimum of five years’ relevant experience in an aerospace production environment required.  Vocational and technical schooling preferred.

 

Employees working on programs subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations must qualify as a US Person which is defined as a US Citizen, a Permanent Resident who does not work for a foreign company/foreign government/foreign governmental agency or organization, or a political asylee for legal compliance purposes.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate well with others, both verbally and in written format.
  • Mathematical knowledge and ability to apply towards problem solving.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task effectively, and work under pressure.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Works under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work overtime, as required.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Ability to work outside of core business hours, as required.

 

Physical Requirements

  • Able to climb and work on step stools and/or ladders.
  • Able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds without assistance and ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Ability to reach overhead.
  • Ability to work in a non-dust-free environment.
  • Normal or corrected vision (required to perform exacting tasks).
  • Full range of motion with both hands.
  • Ability to work in a stooping, kneeling or standing position and in cramped areas.
