The opportunity
Join us as a technical expert in creating and maintaining product content, focusing on clear, accurate wordings, and disclosures. This is an autonomous role with strong cross-team collaboration.
Your new role
Reporting to the National Product Manager – Financial Lines, you’ll act as a subject matter expert on technical writing for product wordings and disclosures. You’ll work closely with product managers and specialists across all commercial lines including financial lines, engineering, marine, motor, and property. You’ll develop, review, and maintain clear, accurate, and legally sound insurance policy wordings. Responsibilities include:
Draft and update insurance policy wordings, endorsements, schedules, and related documents.
Review third-party wordings and provide recommendations for alignment or improvement.
Maintain a central repository of approved wordings and version control.
Assist in training underwriters and brokers on policy language and interpretation.
Respond to internal and external queries regarding policy terms and conditions.
Interpret regulatory changes and ensure policy documentation remains compliant.
Support product development initiatives by creating wordings for new insurance products.
Identify opportunities to leverage technical writing and analysis across products.
About you
You are an insurance or legal professional with an insurance background. You’ll have a strong understanding of insurance principles and product structures and have regulatory awareness. In addition, you’ll have:
Proven experience in drafting and interpreting insurance policy wordings.
Familiarity with regulatory frameworks (e.g., RBNZ, FMA, Insurance Contracts Law).
Excellent written communication and attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively across departments.
Legal or insurance qualifications (e.g., ANZIIF, law degree) are preferred.
Analytical thinking and legal interpretation.
Time management and prioritisation skills.
Technical writing experience is advantageous.
