Product Owner - eTrading

About Us
Join the Electronic Trading & Trading Portals (ETTP) Crew within CBA’s Global Markets domain. We build the pre-trade portals, liquidity-aggregation engines and trading workflows serving our internal trader desks — across Repo, Credit, High-Grade Bonds (HGB) and Interest Rate Swaps (IRS). You will work at the intersection of trading, technology and product leadership, helping shape the next-generation trading platform for Fixed Income & Rates.

Role Purpose
You will define and lead the vision and roadmap for your product domain, answering the “what” needs to be delivered to create customer and business value. You will partner with trading desks, technology, analytics and business stakeholders to deliver a high-impact product in the eTrading space.

Key Responsibilities

• Define product vision, goals and roadmap, aligned with the ETTP Crew’s OKRs and broader Global Markets strategy.
• Act as the voice of the customer (Repo, Credit, HGB or IRS) — understand trader workflows, pain-points, liquidity-aggregation needs and portal UI requirements.
• Own end-to-end value delivery and product lifecycle (including managing requirements lifecycle, production deployment, release-day coordination and sign-off) — particularly for pre-trade trading portal UI and liquidity aggregation engines.
• Manage a range of stakeholders (trading desk heads, technology leads, vendor connectivity teams, platform teams) — ensuring prioritisation, trade-off decisions and alignment.
• Maintain a healthy, prioritised backlog focused on business and customer outcomes; balance trade-offs between cost, time-to-market, execution quality and infrastructure reuse.
• Drive product exploration: design thinking, user research/interviews, hypothesis formulation, analytics, iteration and learning to validate product design and strategy.
• Ensure all obligations across customer, regulatory, internal policy and process frameworks are satisfied (especially within a trading/markets context).
• Role-model continuous improvement, strong customer-focus and agile maturity: partner with Agile Coaches and Performance Leads to drive squad effectiveness (sprint burn-down, release burn-up, team health).
• Contribute to the Product Owner/Manager community within CBA — promote product-led thinking, discovery mindset and outcomes focus in electronic trading.

About You / Qualifications
Essential

• Strong domain knowledge in electronic trading workflows within Fixed Income & Rates: pre-trade liquidity aggregation, trading portal UI, internal trader desks (Repo, Credit, HGB, IRS).
• Good understanding of market connectivity, trading protocols (e.g., FIX), trading venue flows, liquidity providers, data pipelines.
• Proven experience defining and executing a product vision/roadmap, converting strategy into backlog, delivery and measurable outcomes.
• Experience in agile squads, product discovery techniques (user interviews, analytics, hypothesis testing), release coordination and backlog management.
• Proven stakeholder management: working across trader desks, business units, technology teams, vendors; comfortable making trade-off decisions and resolving escalations.
• Good communication, analytical, decision-making skills; ability to operate in a regulated financial markets environment with operational risk/controls awareness.

Desired / Bonus

• Experience within global markets technology (trading portals, pre-trade systems, fixed income & rates).
• Familiarity with the ION infrastructure (or comparable trading stack) or market connectivity architectures.
• Experience in creating internal-platform or cross-asset product capabilities (e.g., reusable UI frameworks, connectivity services).
• Exposure to outcome/KPI tracking: e.g., trader workflow efficiency, adoption/usage metrics, latency reduction.
