[What the role is]
The Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS) is Singapore’s national authority on the weather and climate. The Meteorological Observations & Systems Division (MOSD) implements and maintains a comprehensive network of specialised meteorological observing systems and applications to support operational weather forecasting and the provision of meteorological services. MOSD also undertakes weather observation practices in accordance with international standards and manages the long-term archive and quality control of national climate data.
As part of our Digital Services team, you will play a crucial role in advancing Singapore's meteorological capabilities through innovative digital solutions. You'll work at the intersection of meteorology and digital technology, helping to transform how weather and climate information is collected, processed, and delivered to serve Singapore's needs.
[What you will be working on]
- Support the development and implementation of the product roadmap for NEA/MSS digital platforms, including forecasting applications, public-facing digital services (e.g weather.gov.sg, myEnv), and data platforms
- Support the integration of weather data from meteorological observation systems to enhance service delivery and research capabilities
- Define product requirements and collaborate closely with development teams to ensure successful implementation
- Design and develop proof-of-concept solutions to validate new product features and capabilities
- Work closely with engineering, design, research and operations to enhance digital products
- Monitor and analyse product metrics and user feedback for product improvements
- Support the maintenance and improvement of existing weather applications and digital services
- Assist in the documentation of product features and technical requirements
- Manage stakeholder relationships across government agencies and external partners
[What we are looking for]
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Physics, Mathematics, Meteorology, Climate Science, Earth Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields
- Desire to work for the public good, with a genuine passion for the environment, weather, and climate
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently in a dynamic and mission-critical environment
Successful applicant will be offered a 6-months traineeship.
