Agile Space Industries is seeking a Product Design Intern - Summer 2026 to be a part of the Product Engineering group onsite in Durango, CO. This group designs, tests, and analyzes various engines, propulsion systems, and spacecraft components. This role provides mechanical design and analysis support to any of Agile's products during the iterative design-manufacture-test-analyze process of the program lifecycle. The role provides an opportunity to apply metal 3D printing to designs, where applicable, resulting in performance optimization. You will be a key member of the program team, working closely with the cross-functional group that is designing, manufacturing, testing, and analyzing components you are working on.

Responsibilities:

  • Work on project assignments tailored to your specific skills under the guidance of experienced mentors.
  • Work as a competent member of the team, and willingly provides back-up support for coworkers when appropriate.
  • Gain practical experience in the design, analysis, and/or test of components/sub-assemblies of one of Agile’s products.
  • Collaborate one-on-one with mentors in your discipline to enhance your knowledge and skills.
  • Deliver an Exit Presentation at the conclusion of the internship, highlighting project objectives, experiences, and progress made. 
  • Follow OSHA, EPA, Fire Regulations and published Company work rules.
  • Performs other related duties as required, such as engine assembly and cold flow testing.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in or completed coursework towards a technical degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Physics at an accredited college or university.
  • Willingness to learn new topics as well as enthusiasm for space exploration.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in team environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of mechanical design, fluid mechanics and thermodynamics.
  • Familiarity with Computer-Aided Design (SolidWorks preferred) and hands-on hardware experience.
  • Familiarity with gas dynamics, additive manufacturing, design for internal flows, or pressure vessel design.
  • Able to maintain confidential information for the company and within regulatory guidelines required.
  • Show up to work consistently and on time.

 

Employment Type: Non-Exempt - Intern

Pay Range: $21 - $25 an hour. Plus a monthly housing stipend of $1,000. (Please note the housing stipend is prorated)

Students joining Agile through our internship program will receive the opportunity to attend presentations from company leaders, social and networking events, as well as professional and personal development trainings. Interns also receive paid company holidays for any holidays that take place during their internship period.
