Here, you’ll champion legal strategy for cloud services, security solutions, and on-prem technologies, unlocking new opportunities and steering product development at the intersection of law and technology.
What You’ll Do
Advise & Strategize: Partner directly with Product Managers, Architects, and technical teams as a subject matter expert to provide strategic counsel on solutions, including hosted services and on-prem products.
Lead High-Impact Legal Initiatives: Drive significant organizational change and compliance improvements. Influence the design and deployment of AI-driven products by advising on legal, ethical, and regulatory issues in emerging technologies.
Advise on Go-to-Market : Align product design, deployment and launches with global legal requirements and market expectations, enabling F5’s innovation to reach customers faster.
Drive Cross-Functional Collaboration : Work hand-in-hand with other team members within the Office of the General Counsel, including Business Counsel, IP, Compliance, and other departments to integrate privacy-by-design, data protection, responsible use of AI, and robust governance frameworks into every product and ensure such frameworks are supported by F5’s commercial contracts.
Identify & Execute Improvements: Drive continuous improvement in legal practices and processes, identifying opportunities for increased efficiency and effectiveness.
Drive Product Compliance & Risk Mitigation: Conduct comprehensive legal analysis and monitor evolving regulations (privacy, cybersecurity, AI) and translate complex requirements into actionable, solution-oriented advice for technical stakeholders and Business Counsel.
Minimum Qualifications & What You’ll Bring
BS, BA in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or related technical field—your expertise lets you partner deeply with our product and engineering leads.
JD, LLB, or equivalent degree.
Admitted to the bar and in good standing or otherwise authorized to practice law in WA and/or CA .
3 years of experience at a law firm and/or in-house.
Experience advising on AI applications, cloud services, cybersecurity, product development, and/or complex commercial agreements.
Deep understanding of privacy laws, cybersecurity standards, and regulatory frameworks impacting technology products.
Exceptional communication skills—able to translate technical concepts into clear, actionable legal guidance for a range of business partners.
Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects in a dynamic environment, fostering collaboration and driving results.
Preferred Qualifications
5 years of experience at a law firm and/or in-house, with at least 2 years focused on technology products or services.
Technical experience in technology or software industries, especially with cloud-based services, network infrastructure, or application delivery platforms.
Experience advising on AI governance frameworks, machine learning model deployment, AI applications, cloud services, cybersecurity, product development, and/or complex commercial agreements for multiple geopolitical jurisdictions and in highly regulated sectors.
Demonstrated success in supporting rapid product cycles and advising on transformative technology initiatives.
Deep familiarity with multi-cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and hybrid cloud deployments.
Knowledge of network security technologies, including firewalls, load balancers, DDoS mitigation, and WAF (Web Application Firewall) solutions.
Expertise in international data privacy regulations beyond GDPR and CCPA, including PIPEDA, LGPD, APPI, and emerging frameworks in APAC and Middle East regions.
Understanding of cybersecurity compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, FedRAMP, PCI DSS, ISO 42001, and NIST standards.
Track record advising enterprise SaaS companies or infrastructure providers serving Fortune 500 clients.

The annual base pay for this position is: $245,600.00 - $368,400.00F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5’s differing products, industries, and lines of business.
