The Product and Market Research Team Lead oversees the research function that informs product strategy, positioning, and go-to-market decisions. This role manages a team responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data on market trends, customer behavior, competitive landscape, and product performance across key segments.

The position ensures that research outputs are actionable and directly support decision-making for Product, Marketing, and Strategy teams. This includes designing and executing quantitative and qualitative studies, developing hypotheses, and synthesizing insights into clear recommendations that drive growth and product-market fit.

The Team Lead collaborates closely with cross-functional stakeholders — including Product Managers and Executive teams — to identify research priorities, validate new opportunities, and monitor evolving market dynamics. Additionally, the role focuses on developing and mentoring the research team, fostering a culture of curiosity, analytical rigor, and continuous learning to enhance the overall impact and capability of the function.

What you'll actually do
  • Lead ongoing market and competitive landscape analyses to identify trends, emerging opportunities, and potential threats. Translate insights into actionable recommendations for product and marketing strategy.
  • Design and oversee qualitative and quantitative research to understand customer needs, motivations, and behaviors. Develop segmentation frameworks to support product positioning and targeting.
  • Partner with Product Managers to test product concepts, features, and value propositions. Validate hypotheses through data-driven experiments and user feedback to ensure strong product-market fit.
  • Define and manage the research roadmap aligned with company objectives. Balance strategic and tactical priorities across multiple product lines and markets.
  • Work closely with Product, and Data teams to integrate research insights into roadmap planning, go-to-market initiatives, and performance tracking.
  • Lead, mentor, and grow the research team. Foster a culture of curiosity, analytical rigor, and continuous learning to enhance the team’s effectiveness and impact.
  • Oversee implementation and optimization of research tools, databases, and knowledge repositories to improve efficiency, data accessibility, and collaboration across teams.
Who we’re looking for
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience in marketing or product analytics and research. Proven track record in managing end-to-end research initiatives and experience in a team leadership role.
  • Strong expertise in market and product research methodologies, including qualitative and quantitative research, surveys, interviews, and user testing.
  • Proven experience in designing and executing research projects end-to-end, from hypothesis formulation to insight delivery and recommendations.
  • Solid analytical skills with advanced proficiency in SQL, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Metabase) for synthesizing research findings.
  • Experience with customer segmentation, cohort analysis, and behavioral data interpretation to inform product and marketing strategy.
  • Working knowledge of statistical analysis and experimental design, including A/B testing, hypothesis testing, and regression analysis.
  • Familiarity with product analytics platforms such as Amplitude, GA4, or similar, for tracking user behavior and product performance.
  • Strong understanding of market dynamics, competitive analysis.
  • Experience leading and mentoring a research team, developing team skills, and fostering a culture of analytical rigor and curiosity.
  • Upper-intermediate English (written and spoken), with the ability to present complex insights to cross-functional stakeholders clearly.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of deriving actionable insights from complex data.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to clearly convey research findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong prioritization and time management skills, able to handle multiple research projects and requests simultaneously.
  • Collaborative team player with a coaching and mentoring mindset, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
