The New York Post video team is seeking a savvy Producer / Editor well versed in long-form digital formats to help create compelling, shareable videos.

Can-do attitude is key: someone who believes news doesn’t have to be boring and who appreciates the odd and unconventional stories as well as important ones. We seek a candidate who is excited about new types of multimedia storytelling and has a track record of creating YouTube videos. Must be aware of the latest formats and trends on YouTube as a distinct form of content (not TV-related.) 

This is an opportunity to work with an iconic media brand as it experiences exponential digital growth and becomes a video powerhouse. New York Post Digital Network videos have received more than a billion views in the past year across a variety of digital platforms. 

Responsibilities:

  • Execute stories from conception through completion across journalistic and documentary formats

  • Pitch original story ideas across a range of topics, including national news, tabloid content, and societal trends

  • Conduct in-depth research on a wide variety of subjects

  • Report, write, and edit long-form content with compelling narrative structure

  • Edit video and visual content quickly and creatively

  • Collaborate on story development and production from start to finish

  • Utilize Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Photoshop, and familiarity with After Effects required)

Qualifications 

  • 5+ years of experience working with news company 

  • Experience creating YouTube video for digital platforms 

  • Background in journalism and the ability to pitch, produce, and script 

  • Solid editorial judgment 

  • Strong news judgment, good writing skills, knowledge of current events and excellent communication and people skills 

  • Expertise with key productions in Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Photoshop, and familiarity

  • with After Effects.) 

This candidate must have a strong aesthetic eye and cinematic tendencies Must enjoy working collaboratively and accurately in a fast paced but fun environment Attention to detail a must 

Notes: This role will be required to report onsite to our midtown office 5 days per week.

Pay Range: $85,000 - $100,000
