Job Description
The Procurement Manager – Product Services Category reports into Sourcing Director in the North America site services indirect procurement team. The role works with NA Product Services category leader to build and implement category strategies encompassing multiple sites to continuously improve the Outside Lab Testing, Equipment Maintenance and Calibration and Engineering Services category spend. This role will influence about $50M in spend. Collaborates with a cross-functional team of sourcing, operations, technical, finance and other colleagues to prioritize sourcing initiatives, develops sourcing strategies, negotiates contracts, supports spend migration from incumbent to preferred suppliers, and leads preferred supplier relationships.
Scale of Responsibilities
- Leads category initiatives to deliver key category performance indicators including: savings, supplier rationalization, working capital, etc.
- Performs data discovery, analysis and modeling to identify saving opportunities, and develop implementation/resource plans to ensure savings delivery
- Participates in the development and leads the execution of a 3 to 5-year global sourcing strategies focused on identifying and contracting with preferred suppliers that meet key business needs and category management goals
- Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with efficient terms for assigned spend categories
- Research potential vendors, develop and execute RFPs
- Partner with stakeholders/ cross functional teams to ensure clear requirements documentation is translated to RFP and contracts as appropriate.
- Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking to inform sourcing decisions.
Technical Responsibilities
- Monitors market intelligence and key trends, assesses impact and refines category plans to support business requirements
- Engages and supports division/site procurement teams and other key colleagues to qualify preferred suppliers & migrate spend from incumbent, non-preferred suppliers
- Actively participates in supplier business reviews with suppliers to ensure both parties meet obligations under the terms of agreement, including performance standards
- Drives negotiations for global agreements aligned with category strategy
- Consolidates and synthesizes key data sets from multiple sources to develop programs/insights to deliver category value
- Tracks, monitors and reports timely completion of project targets
Leadership Responsibilities
- Collaborates with cross-functional colleagues (quality, technical, operations, finance, etc.) to ensure all category sourcing activities are aligned to a common set of goals and priorities
- Establishes category plans and priorities globally and ensures alignment with divisional business priorities
Education, Experience, Knowledge and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or technical field or equivalent combination of experience and education. Master’s Degree is preferred
- 7+ years of experience in procurement and 5+ yr experience as category analyst or category manager in mid-to large multinational companies. Indirect category experience is preferred.
- Business insight – knows how to assess market/business requirements dynamics and negotiate agreements that yield meaningful business value
- Previous experience in pharma, or similar highly regulated industry is preferred
- 2+ years of experience in negotiating T&Cs/ contracts.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and software.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.
- Influences without authority to motivate a cross-functional team in multiple geographies.
- Ability to travel 25%
