What You’ll Do

As a Principal Solution Architect, you’ll apply your deep expertise and breadth of experience in solution architecture to:

  • Construct technology-enabled business and operating models and provide viable solution options and visibility into execution issues.

  • Be a ‘hands-on’ architecture leader, working on cross-entity solutions and complex problems across the Telstra Group.

  • Act as a leading subject matter expert to identify, develop, and improve technical and business architecture of solutions for current and future requirements.

  • Collaborate with delivery teams to ensure consistency with enterprise architecture and leverage shared technologies, tools, and processes.

  • Engage and influence key technology partners and business stakeholders to develop architecture and engineering guidelines with vendors.

  • Provide guidance and make strategic decisions to resolve complex and ambiguous issues and remove blockers for your team.

  • Foster an architecture that enables iterative, autonomous development and future scaling; guide teams in design decisions that minimise future change costs.

  • Collaborate with the security team to model a security-first mindset and apply the organisation's security strategy.

  • Partner with product owners to build a culture of priority setting and urgency in alignment with organisational strategy.

  • Demonstrate effective decision-making and responsible actions to handle risk, change, and uncertainty across several teams.

  • Build strong commercial capability by modelling commercial thinking, balancing cost and value.

  • Build a culture of knowledge sharing and documentation for continuous learning and capability-building.

  • Contribute to function and organisation strategy, practices, and planning.

  • Use a digital product mindset to recognise product opportunities and differentiators.

  • Model Telstra’s values and facilitate inclusive discussions across teams.

  • Maintain a high level of capability in software engineering, including new and emerging technologies.

  • Shape the future blueprint of how a domain can evolve across infrastructure, applications, and services.

  • Enable stakeholders to make informed decisions that balance business outcomes with technical feasibility.

  • Contribute to planning and prioritisation, especially around customer strategy and functional roadmaps.

About You

We’re looking someone who:

  • Has proven experience in the telecom industry (or similar) with a deep level of domain knowledge in corporate service (Finance | HR | Procurement) having end to end knowledge of enterprise-level processes and applications, including Enterprise Resource Planning, Human Capital Management, Payroll, Procurement, Supply Chain and Logistics and other similarly complex corporate functions.

  • Deep domain knowledge in telecom or similar industry, with expertise in any of following domains CRM/Ordering, FinTech, Customer Assurance Diagnostic, Corporate Service (Finance | HR | Procurement), or Platform Architecture.

  • Experience in architecture and engineering, and strategic leadership roles in large organisations.

  • Hands-on strategic architecture experience to define mid and long-term architecture designs.

  • Knowledge of Tele Management Forum (TMF), Open API, Digital Open Architecture, AI architectures and concepts, SaaS, IaaS, PaaS, SOA, APIs, open data, microservices, event-driven IT, and predictive analytics.

  • Understanding of business models, operating models, financial models, cost-benefit analysis, budgeting, and risk management.

  • Familiarity with enterprise architecture tools, graphical models, and frameworks.

  • Insight into information management practices, SDLC management, IT services management, agile and lean methodologies, infrastructure and operations, EA and ITIL frameworks.

  • Understanding of various operating models and agile principles, methodologies, and frameworks.

  • Effective leadership skills, including teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation.

  • Innovative consulting mindset to drive digital business strategies.

  • Excellent written, verbal, communication, and presentation skills.

  • Expertise in distributed systems, networking, software architecture, and software security concepts.
