Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Missile Defense Integration—offers an excellent opportunity for a Principal Engineer Systems Modeling Simulation – Analyst & Simulation Developer (25-374) to join a team of skilled and diverse professionals. Located in Huntsville, AL, this role is crucial in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.

 

This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.

 

Position Overview:

 

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a vital part of the Missile Defense System. It provides an essential operational platform that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and tactical levels to systematically plan missile defense operations, monitor battle progress, and actively control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC offers a layered missile defense capability, delivering an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It acts as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations both worldwide and locally to improve overall performance. Additionally, C2BMC is a key component of all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the missile defense system's current and future capabilities.

 

Seeking a highly motivated analyst to support the C2BMC-NT (National Team) Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Product Team.  The applicant will be expected to provide technical expertise in missile defense (MD) modeling, simulation, and analysis. Depending on their specific skills, duties may include planning and executing performance analyses on C2BMC and its interactions with current and future MD elements.

 

Essential Functions:

 

·         Documenting analysis findings in reports and briefings

·         Presenting analysis results to diverse audiences

·         Developing requirements for complex system models and simulations

·         Executing, testing, and troubleshooting large-scale MD models and simulations

·         Developing, testing, and evaluating threat scenarios

·         Developing tools in MATLAB and Python to aid analysis and development efforts

·         Providing data to support decisions regarding system and element representations, as well as the modeling parameters used in large-scale simulations

·         Collaborating with members of other C2BMC product teams, leadership, MDA customers, technical SMEs, as well as leaders of other MD element programs

·         Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to work independently, and the poise and flexibility needed to succeed in a highly dynamic environment

·         Applicants should have knowledge and hands-on experience working in a Unix/Linux environment

·         Candidates must be present on-site full-time because access to a classified computing environment is required

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university is preferred, along with 5 years of experience; or a Master’s degree (preferred) in a STEM-related field with 3 years of relevant work experience; or PhD in a related field with 1 year of relevant work experience

  • Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start

  • Must have a strong engineering background across multiple disciplines, essential for both conceptual and detailed system-level assessments, along with a fundamental understanding of analysis techniques, planning, execution, and reporting

  • Technical specialty areas might include, but are not limited to:

    • Radar design and performance

    • Strategic and tactical missile threat characterization/performance/modeling

    • Simulation modeling of complex systems

    • Requirement and test condition decomposition

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Systems Engineering

  • Certification: INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification

  • Certification: Object Management Group Certified Systems Modeling Professional - Model Builder Fundamental (OCSMP - MBF)

·         Discrete event simulation modeling

·         Data analysis with Python and MATLAB tools

·         Exposure to tactical-strategic weapons and sensor message standards

·         Software development in a Linux and Agile environment using MATLAB (strongly preferred)

·         Python strongly preferred, followed by Java, Bash, etc.

·         Experience with GIT environment is a plus

Additional Northrop Grumman Information:

Primary Level Salary Range: $105,400.00 - $158,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
