Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems provides an excellent opportunity for a Principal Engineer Network – Network Engineer III (25-338) to join our talented and diverse team. Located in Colorado Springs, CO, this role is essential in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels.
This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program serves as the core element of the Missile Defense System. It is a critical operational system that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, monitor the battle, and dynamically control designated networked sensors and weapon systems to accomplish global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability, enabling an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It acts as a force multiplier by connecting, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems worldwide and regionally to enhance performance. C2BMC is a vital part of all ground and flight tests, verifying and exercising current and future missile defense system capabilities.
The candidate will serve as a primary Network Engineer supporting the C2BMC Program. This position is based at HWY83, Colorado Springs, CO, and is a long-term role; however, it requires the ability to travel to other locations, such as Schriever Space Force Base, CO, Alaska, Guam, and Europe, to perform tasks, including deployments.
Essential Functions:
Will be responsible for learning how to plan, deploy, integrate, and test upgrades to the C2BMC network at operational sites
Responsible for traveling to remote locations to carry out network installations, troubleshoot issues, and provide status updates to Program personnel
Must be an effective communicator with strong writing and presentation skills, proficient in Microsoft Office products, especially PowerPoint and Visio
Must thrive and do your best work in a collaborative and agile environment
Basic Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field from an accredited university is preferred, along with 5 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field with 3 years of relevant work experience; or 9 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree
Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
Applicants must have a current, active DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (such as Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA, etc.) at the time of application, which is required to start. The candidate is responsible for maintaining their DoD 8140 certification throughout the entire contract period
Willing to travel up to 10% for business purposes
Must possess knowledge of network design, development, and testing methodologies
Must understand the OSI Model, TCP/IP, and routing protocols BGP and OSPF
Must possess network traffic analysis, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills
Must have firewall knowledge in Juniper, Fortinet, and Palo Alto
Must know UDP multicast, SONET, MSPP, VLANs, GRE Tunnels, and TCP/IP network designs
Must know about multi-vendor switching and routing (Juniper, Cisco), WAN optimizer, TACLANEs, and optical transport equipment

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,200.00 - $136,800.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
