Pricing Strategy Senior Expert

Job Purpose & Key Responsibilities

Job Purpose

This role aims to maximize opportunities through a strategic approach to pricing, from the early stages of development to life cycle management. Collaborate with cross-functional teams both local and global, as well as with industry groups.

Key Responsibilities

  • Negotiate NHI prices and price premiums/PMPs for new products at listing, ensuring appropriate pricing. Lead cross-functional project teams and report closely to the Global Franchise
  • Support CEA evaluation and contribute to maintaining optimal pricing
  • Negotiate Ryotan and home use treatment etc. to ensure patient access
  • Develop robust pricing assumptions to support more accurate business decisions. Explore pricing strategies and value propositions for pipeline products, and provide input to the Japan and Global teams regarding ideal RCT design, outcomes, regulatory dossiers, and product information
  • Implement various measures for Price Revision, exploring opportunities and minimizing risks, including repricing, post-launch price premiums, and essential medicines etc.
  • Propose bold opinions through affiliated industry groups, collaborating with other companies
  • Develop and grow as a trusted pricing representative through people development
  • Provide basic knowledge on pricing and healthcare system to relevant cross-functional members

Basic Qualification

Skill

  • Comprehensive knowledge of Japan's drug pricing system, pharmaceutical business landscape, and healthcare system.
  • Strong leadership, networking, and communication skills to collaborate effectively in cross-functional and multicultural environments.
  • Ambitious strategic thinking to identify and implement innovative approaches to tackle challenges and drive business growth.
  • Proactive mindset to take initiatives in solving problems and addressing opportunities and risks.
  • Advanced analytical abilities to gather, organize, and interpret information using IT tools and methodologies to deliver data-driven insights.
  • Ability to influence organizations to drive change and achieve impactful results.
  • Ability to work with diverse teams, fostering collaboration, and building an inclusive and high-performing workplace.

Experience

  • At least five years of experience in pricing and reimbursement in a pharmaceutical company  
  • Experience in cross-functional project management and leadership
  • High personal accountability and integrity combined with relevant ability and experience

Education/certification/Language

  • Business-level proficiency in English is required, both written and spoken

Preferred Qualification

Experience

  • At least five years of experience in pricing-related work such as consulting and Market Access
  • Experience in people management, including team leadership, performance evaluation, and team member’s development
