POSITION SPECIFICS
The Penn State Department of Chemical Engineering is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher in Dr. Thomas Wood's research lab at Penn State's University Park campus. A Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline is required.
The successful candidate will:
(i) utilize a mucin-on-chip system to identify the interactions between pathogenic E. coli and mucin using various E. coli strains;
(ii) investigate sequence-based RNA silencing of bacterial antitoxins in mucin-associated biofilms and investigate its impact on the fitness of the mucin and the microbial counterpart; and
(iii) engineer predictor models for microbiome interventions on mucin.
Additional Information:
The successful candidate's anticipated start date is April 1, 2026.
