A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Flavia Montano Centellas (Tropical Ecology Lab) in the Department of Biological Sciences at Louisiana State University. Our research focuses in understanding how communities change across natural and disturbance gradient, and how we can use this information to aid biodiversity conservation.
The postdoctoral researcher joining our team will perform develop and execute research related with the ecology and evolution of mixed-species flocks. Activities expected include data curation, data analyses and leading the preparation of scientific manuscripts to be published in peer-review journals. The postdoctoral researcher will also have the option to participate of other ongoing projects in our research group and participating in field expeditions in Louisiana. In addition, the postdoc will assist in training of lab members and with research projects as needed.
Duties Include:
80% Conduct highly independent research, including data collection, data curation and processing, data analyses, and manuscript preparation.
10% Provide support in preparing proposals and report writing.
5% Present findings during lab meetings, departmental seminars ans scientific conferences.
5% Assist in supervision, assign and review work of students and lab staff, providing advice and technical assistance.
Minimum Qualifications:
PhD in Biology, Ecology or related fields.
Specific experience with field work in forested habitats, community ecology, statistical analyses and scientific writing.
Candidate must have proficiency with statistical analysis and coding (R, python).
Preferred Qualifications:
Significant experience with field work in forested habitats, community ecology, statistical analyses and scientific writing.
Previous experience with macroecological analyses, big data, distribution models and spatial analyses, and phylogenetic comparative methods.
