We are looking for a  Platform Engineer to join our Certified Pipeline engineering team in Alpharetta, GA. The Certified Pipeline team designs and builds delivery systems for secured infrastructure as code globally at Equifax into multiple public cloud providers. This is a key role on a high visibility team that is revolutionizing how Equifax delivers systems and software. The work we do is making Equifax a better place to work! We’re a tight-knit group of like-minded individuals with a wide variety of technical backgrounds and experience ranging from software engineering to enterprise architecture. We believe everything should be automated and everything can be done with code.

To adhere to our corporate location policies, this resource will be required to be local to the surrounding Atlanta, GA . You are required to adhere to our Return To Office (RTO) / weekly onsite requirements (Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday).

What you’ll do

  • Driving direction of  a specific platform or application including creation of new environments, software upgrades, and tuning.

  • Driving the creation and amendment of automation scripts and supporting documentation.

  • Provide software deployment services for QA and production environments.

  • Direct application performance monitoring and tuning.

  • Be actively involved in protecting the uptime and performance of the application. Provide knowledge and expertise in the development and operational support and maintenance for a range of applications and tools. 

  • Define the updates to the production environment.

  • Responsible for the installation, set up and support of third party software running on internal managed environments.

  • Designing and setting up deployment procedures, setting up robust processes, monitoring production systems and managing configuration.

  • Provide mentorship to junior team members.

  • Ability to understand complex business issues and identify technical solutions.

  • Communicate direction clearly to other members of the team.

  • Applies a new perspective on existing solutions to solve complex problems

  • Makes decisions within guidelines and policies that impact a range of customer, operational, process, or project activities

  • Develops work plans for short-term assignments of moderate complexity

What could set you apart

  • Expertise in Linux Administration (RHEL/CentOS), including, service management, user access control, and troubleshooting file system and network performance issues.

  • Experience supporting enterprise on-prem virtualization platforms like VMware vSphere or Microsoft Hyper-V environments.

  • Strong foundational knowledge of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S), load balancing, firewalls, and network segregation required for FISMA compliance.

  • Experience with container runtimes and managing/supporting an on-prem container, specifically focusing on security hardening.

  • Expert in Python/Bash/Shell Scripting for operational tasks, system health checks, and API integration.

  • Proven ability to collaborate with product and application teams to define actionable SLIs (Service Level Indicators) and set achievable SLOs (Service Level Objectives) for availability and latency.

  • Expertise in deploying and customizing monitoring systems (e.g., Splunk, Datadog) to track service health, error budgets, and automatically trigger alerts based on SLO violations.

  • Deep understanding of system performance metrics (utilization, saturation, error rate, latency) and how to configure collection agents for both application and infrastructure layers.
