Plant Test Lab Technician

What you will do

Johnson Controls is seeking a Plant Test Lab Technician! You will monitor testing, evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering principles and techniques to assigned problems.

You will be responsible for troubleshooting and resolving basic HVAC mechanical, electrical, and controls problems.   

How you will do it

  • Mount and terminate system high (up to 480V-3ph) and low voltage devices as required.  

  • Identifies possible improvements to current processes.  

  • Generates final test reports pending review. 

  • Assist in establishing procedures. 

  • Provides input for test setup instructions.

  • Provides guidance to others as needed and assists in personal training. 

  • Operate test units and maintain equipment. 

  • Assemble, prepare, disassemble, and troubleshoot test units. 

  • Read and interpret wiring diagrams / working knowledge of electrical principles and theory.

  • Review & interpret agency standards. 

  • Able to identify suspect or erroneous data.  

What we look for
Required

  • Associates degree

  • Highly safety oriented

  • Able to use hand and power tools (i.e. drills, saws, etc.).

  • Able to climb, stand, walk, bend, reach, grasp, lift up to 35lbs, push, pull, and distinguish different colors.

  • Basic computer skills. (MS Word & Excel)

  • Working Knowledge of HVAC systems, principles & theory 

  • Demonstrated technical aptitude. 

Preferred

  • 3+ years technical HVAC experience

  • Install and commissioning of HVAC equipment

HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $52,000 - $66,000 (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
