Plant Manager

As our innovative business continues to rapidly grow, we are seeking a full-time Plant Manager at our Montreal location. The Plant Manager will be responsible for ensuring efficient, safe, and high-quality processes while driving continuous improvement and achieving production targets. This role focuses exclusively on the day-to-day production and operational aspects of the plant.

Position: Full-Time, Permanent.
Schedule: Monday to Friday, in office. Flexible business hours.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Production Leadership and Management: Oversee all aspects of the production process ensuring adherence to production schedules, quality standards, and cost targets.
  • Operational Efficiency and Optimization: Identify and implement strategies to improve production efficiency, reduce waste, optimize resource utilization, and streamline operational workflows.
  • Safety and Compliance: Champion a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all environmental, health, and safety regulations and company policies. Implement and maintain robust safety protocols and procedures.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the consistent production of high-quality products through the implementation and monitoring of effective quality control systems and processes.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and develop production and operations teams, fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. Set clear performance expectations, provide feedback, and conduct performance reviews. 
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the plant's operational budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and accountability. Monitor expenditures and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintenance and Reliability: Oversee the maintenance of plant equipment and infrastructure, ensuring optimal operational performance and minimizing downtime. Collaborate with maintenance teams to implement preventative maintenance programs.
  • Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels to meet production demands while optimizing inventory costs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Drive a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for process optimization, implementing lean manufacturing principles, and utilizing data-driven decision-making.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Effectively communicate production plans, performance metrics, and operational updates to relevant stakeholders. Collaborate with other departments (e.g., supply chain, engineering) to ensure seamless operations.
  • Problem Solving: Proactively identify and resolve operational issues and production challenges in a timely and effective manner.


Requirements:

  • Must be bilingual in English and French.
  • Bachelors degree preferred but not required.
  • Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience with meat processing is preferred.
  • Experience working in an organization of comparable size and complexity is required. 
  • Must have good written, verbal, organizational, and communication skills and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Must have the ability to prepare and deliver presentations and speak at minor functions as a departmental representative.
  • Must have the ability to multitask, prioritize, and work independently or within a team environment.
  • Must be able to develop solutions to problems of moderate scope and complexity and reference policies and practices for guidance.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, email, and internet software applications.
