Position Overview
This position is based on-site at our San Antonio, Texas, location.
The Security Management Center (SMC) Specialist is responsible for real-time monitoring, event triage and incident reporting across Vantage Data Centers’ North American portfolio. Operating within a 24/7/365 command-and-control environment, this role ensures the continuous protection and operational integrity of Vantage’s data center campuses through proactive surveillance, alarm management, and precise communication.
SMC Specialists are the first line of defense in identifying, assessing, and escalating security events. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically proficient with monitoring systems, and capable of maintaining composure and accuracy in a high-tempo, mission-critical environment.
Essential Job Functions
Monitoring & Alarm Management
Continuously monitor security systems including video management, access control and alarm monitoring platforms (Genetec).
Detect, assess and validate alarms and alert generated by security systems across all sites.
Initiate appropriate escalation and notification procedures based on Vantage’s Security Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Maintain situational awareness of all monitored campuses and critical incidents in progress.
Conduct real-time and retrospective camera reviews to support investigations or verify incidents.
Incident Management
Accurately document all security events, alarms and incidents in the incident management system.
Provide clear and timely communication with Shift Leads, Regional Security Managers and on-site Physical Security teams during events requiring response or escalations.
Follow established event response workflows, ensuring precision and accountability in documentation. Support after-action reviews by providing incident data, system screenshots or event summaries as needed.
Systems & Technical Operations
Operate and monitor integrated physical security systems to ensure all full system functionality and responsiveness.
Perform start of shift system checks, verifying alarm queues, connectivity and camera health.
Identify and report system malfunctions, anomalies or false alarms to Shift Lead or SMC Leadership.
Assist with configuration validation for new site activations or system upgrades under supervision.
Compliance & Procedure Adherence
Follow all established SMC standard operating procedures and communication protocols.
Ensure confidentiality and integrity of all data handled within the SMC environment.
Support compliance requirements.
Participate in training and all readiness drills to maintain operational excellence.
Collaboration & Communication
Maintain constant communication with shift leads and fellow specialists to ensure smooth shift operations and transitions.
Relay critical information to local security teams clearly and accurately.
Contribute to team discussions, knowledge sharing and procedural improvements.
Support transition briefings during shift changed to maintain continuity of situational awareness.
Job Requirements
Travel
Travel is expected to be less than 5% but may increase over time as the program evolves.
Experience
2-4 years of experience in a 24/7 security operations or monitoring center environment.
Prior experience in a team lead, shift supervisor or senior operator role preferred.
Experience with integrated security technologies (VMS, access control, alarm monitoring, and incident management systems).
Skills
Strong situational awareness and ability to assess information quickly and accurately.
Technical proficiency with physical security platforms and computer-based monitoring tools.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail and documentation accuracy.
Ability to remain calm and focused under pressure in fast-paced or critical situations.
Team oriented mindset with a commitment to operational consistency and accountability.
Familiarity with incident management frameworks or software.

Additional Details
Hourly Range: $40.87 - 45.67 Hourly + Bonus (this range is based on San Antonio, Texas, market data and may vary in other locations)
