Job Description:

This internship will run on a 12-week program schedule from May 4, 2026 – July 31, 2026. This is a paid, full time (40 hours/week) position at the AstraZeneca R&D facility located at 1 Medimmune Way, Gaithersburg, MD 20878.

Job Description:

The key learning objectives of this are to develop an understanding of and potentially contribute to:

  • Scientific research process (including hypothesis generation and development)
  • Clinical Development roles and being part of a Clinical Study Team
  • Protocol development and study design
  • Clinical development plans
  • Oncology efficacy and safety assessments
  • Data analysis, interpretation, and presentation
  • Professional communication including verbal and written
  • Working in an interdisciplinary environment
  • Other as needed Clinical Sciences activities
     

Position Requirements:

  • Enrolled in a Doctor of Pharmacy program with 2 years of completed PharmD coursework by the start of the internship in May 2026.
  • A strong passion for learning oncology drug development, with prior research experience preferred
  • Demonstrated Project management skills: can prioritize multiple tasks and goals and deliver them in a timely, on-target and high-quality manner.
  • Excellent teamwork skills: knows how to complete deliverables by working effectively with colleagues; can effectively drive discussions and decisions toward desired end results.
  • Prior pharma/biotech industry/FDA experience/internships preferred
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are essential.
  • US Work Authorization is required at time of application.
  • Applicants must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa (e.g., CPT, H1-B, F-1 (OPT), TN, or other non-immigrant status).
    • This role will not be providing CPT or OPT letters of support.
  • Ability to report onsite to Gaithersburg, MD 5 days a week. This position will not be providing relocation assistance.

Compensation Range: $40 - 48 per hour
