We are looking for a future caregiver to take on the role of a Pharmacy Technician Inpatient within our world-class team of caregivers. The inpatient pharmacy technician supports pharmacists in providing pharmacy services. The technician is responsible for packaging, preparation, and distribution of medications, inventory control, customer service and maintaining pharmacy records.

This downtown Stuart hospital provides top-quality patient care to the communities in and around Martin County on the beautiful Indian River. The caregivers at Martin North Hospital have made it not only an excellent medical facility, but also a home away from home.   

 
Cleveland Clinic’s inpatient pharmacy areas support distributive and clinical pharmacy services provided by staff pharmacists, clinical pharmacy specialists and pharmacy technicians, supporting units, ORs, PACUs and/or cath labs at Martin North Hospital. A caregiver in this role will interact with nursing staff and investigate cases related to diversion. They will handle tasks typically managed by nursing that are being tracked through automation, submit tickets with the Emergency Department, and collaborate with other sites within the enterprise. 

 
A caregiver in this position works variable shifts, from 6:30am—11:00pm.  

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

  • Prepare medications through selecting, labeling, repacking, non-sterile compounding and sterile compounding.  

  • Deliver medications to the appropriate storage locations in an accurate and timely manner. 

  • Maintain accurate and appropriate inventories of medications and supplies and complete inventory audits, such as cycle counts and nursing unit inspections.  

  • Maintain a safe and clean work area by complying with procedures, rules and regulations, and document regulatory requirements such as temperature logs, scheduled activities and training.  

  • Use information systems, technology and automation to complete assigned tasks.  

  • Assist with the training of pharmacy caregivers and students. 

 
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • A high school diploma or GED  

  • Licensed in Florida as a Registered Pharmacy Technician  

  • Ability to communicate with other caregivers and patients in an effective and positive manner 

  • Demonstration of emotional control and intelligence in managing work relationships  

  • Ability to perform algebraic calculations necessary for the preparation of extemporaneous compounds  

  • Basic computer skills  

 
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

  • Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program  

  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB). CPhT through the PTCB is required within 18 months of hire  

  • Six months of hospital experience
