Purpose of the Role:

Raytheon are seeking a pro-active and committed IT Systems Engineer to work in the Post Design Support (PDS) team providing support and sustainment for all systems. The role will be a based onsite at Malvern (UK).

Principle Duties / Responsibilities:

  • Following the company processes, procedures and work instructions to ensure company retains AS9100 accreditation

  • Developing and sustaining working relationships with internal and external customers

  • Technical support to programs during build phase of multi-server, multi-client systems
      Hardware assembly, SW install & configuration

  • Undertaking testing of newly built and upgraded IT systems, including Integration Testing, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and System Acceptance Testing (SAT)

  • Technical support to customers. Primarily office-based telephone & email support
      From time to time and with prior notice, this may include evenings and weekends

  • Travel to support both UK and overseas customers to deliver, commission and upgrade IT systems originally built at the Malvern office

  • Travel to support both UK and overseas customers to diagnose and rectify IT issues encompassing Microsoft products, Linux distributions, Active Directory, Certificates, Networking, Storage solutions, Virtualization etc.

  • Providing technical representation at program Gate reviews

  • Management and maintenance of locally held replicas of customer systems, for troubleshooting and upgrade testing purposes

  • Technical support for Program Management and Business Development, providing feedback on system issues and insight to system enhancements and upgrades

  • Supporting Engineering Review Boards, Design Reviews and proposals to internal and external customers

  • Demonstrating software and systems to internal and external customers

  • Participating in Continuous Improvement and lean activities.
     

Personal Qualities:

  • Self-starter who is well organized, proactive, and able to make sound technical decisions

  • Capacity to work alone, abroad, with remote support

  • Presentable in both manner and communication delivery to external customers

  • Possess strong motivational drive to assimilate information and overcome problems quickly and effectively to produce correct solutions

  • Possess good written and verbal communication skills

  • Possess skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with all teams.
     

Desirable, but not essential Experience/Qualifications:

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
