Position Summary

Position will have primary responsibility of working with faculty, staff and information systems staff to ensure consistent management of the WashU Medicine Event Reporting System, identifying ways to streamline its use and efficiency while maximizing documentation of events for more robust reporting and analysis. The position will also independently coordinate patient safety projects and assist in the analysis of patient safety events.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintains day-to-day management of the system, including application security access, alert and auto-report set-up and maintenance, system customizations and departmental and school-wide trending and analytic reports.
  • Develops training programs and guides to educate new users and user groups in event reporting, including providing one-on-one support for WashU Medicine faculty and staff using the system, if necessary.
  • Reviews events on an on-going basis, assisting reporters and Departments in analysis and accurate reporting, providing coordination for all reporting departments to assure consistency of data and standardization of reporting.
  • When patient safety opportunities exist, participates in process mapping, root cause analysis, ensuring accountability for the processes.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert and resource for the Event Reporting System by staying current on scheduled system upgrades or updates, new functionality, identifying and communicating future system enhancements for both the documentation and reporting components.
  • Keeps current with emerging patient safety initiatives and makes recommendations for best practices to enhance patient safety across WashU Medicine departments.
  • Provides support to Clinical Administrator Safety Group and the Patient Safety Physician Council, as appropriate.
  • Works with other WashU Medicine and hospital departments as appropriate.

Salary Range

$58,400.00 - $99,700.00 / Annually

The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
