BASIC FUNCTION:

The purpose of this position is it to provide counseling and mental health services to students; provide wellness training, mentoring and consultation to trainees on outreach as needed, and to provide technological data for the Electronic Health Record System. This is a part-time position (20 hours per week).

SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITY:

Indeterminate

NATURE AND SCOPE:

Interacts with directors, faculty, staff and administrators along with parents of students as assigned.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Provide counseling and mental health services to clients with emotional problems and those with adjustments, career choice, and other developmental/psychological concerns.

Provides crisis intervention to clients who may be in crisis such as being suicidal or danger to self and others in consultation with licensed staff.

Determines when psychiatric referrals should be made.

Responsible for screening and interviewing of walk-in clients (virtually or in-person) and presenting a concise description of the presenting problems to the staff for disposition.

Performs outreach services involving workshops and presentations.

Organizes and prepares detailed mental health reports, case histories and treatment plans.

Provides training and support to trainees on wellness for outreach as needed.

Participates in in-service training programs, supervisions, workshops, and case conference as designated.

CORE COMPENTENCIES:

Ability to work with college students and other clients with emotional and mental health concerns, drug/alcohol problems (assess and refer as needed) other developmental and/or adjustment problems.

Competence in both oral and written communication.

Ability to promote, establish and maintain harmonious and effective work relations with students, faculty, staff, university officials, parents of students and the general public.

Ability to perform teletherapy from home or office as designated by the Executive Director.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in clinical or counseling psychology or Master’s degree in counseling psychology

Minimum of two (2) years clinical experience and licensed as a clinical psychologist or professional counselor in the District of Columbia

Compliance Salary Range Disclosure

$40,000 to $42,848
