We are looking for a highly motivated and agile In-House Paralegal to join our fast-paced tech startup environment. This role will provide essential support to our growing legal team on a wide range of corporate, intellectual property, contract, and compliance matters, ensuring smooth legal operations as we scale.
You’ll take ownership of contract workflows, documentation systems, and legal execution, supporting everything from commercial agreements, compliance, insurance and process improvements, while bringing organization and attention to detail to your work. You’ll help drive proactive internal coordination across legal, finance, engineering, supply chain/procurement, policy, HR and operations, ensuring we stay fast, precise, and compliant.
You will do the following...
- Contract Management: Review and manage a high volume of contracts from start to signature coordination, including Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs), supply chain agreements, and partnership agreements. Maintain and improve legal documentation systems, templates, workflows, playbooks, and internal process tools.
- Intellectual Property (IP) Support: Assist with managing and cataloguing Waabi’s IP portfolio.
- Insurance: Assist with updating insurance coverage for the company’s evolving business needs. Review endorsements and other insurance documentation. Track receipt of appropriate documentation.
- Compliance: Review compliance documentation and work closely with the operations team to facilitate one source of truth for compliance systems.
- Research: Conduct legal research on regulatory questions, case law and other topics as requested by the business.
- Legal Operations & Administration: Manage legal calendars, organize and maintain digital filing systems, and manage invoices from outside counsel and service providers. Track deadlines, maintain audit trails, and support compliance with internal policies.
Qualifications:
- 5–7+ years of experience in legal operations, paralegal work, or legal support roles in a dynamic, high-performing organization.
- Experience building cross-functional relationships with key resources and business partners across an organization.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong command of grammar and attention to detail.
- Superior organizational, time and project management management abilities.
- Capable of handling multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive, self-motivated approach to work.
- High ethical standards and the ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Adaptability and a desire for continuous learning, crucial for keeping up with the rapidly changing tech and legal landscapes.
Bonus/nice to have:
- Tech or Autonomous vehicle industry experience and/or exposure to businesses with hardware elements.
- Startup and/or in-house legal ops experience.
- Experience with legal tech tools (e.g., Ironclad, DocuSign).
- Experience working with regulated motor carries.
- Experience implementing and scaling legal technology solutions (e.g. contract and document management, workflow automation, e-signature processes, amongst others).
