Your Next Career Opportunity – Paralegal II

Review title and survey, draft and review language for various real estate transaction documents, collaborate with the team and other departments for closings, and ensure post-closing matters are completed.

What You Will Do – Primary Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of an attorney, resolve routine legal issues.

  • Research and analyze law sources such as statutes, legal articles, and legal codes in order to prepare and/or analyze legal documents.

  • Prepare (or assist in the preparation of) legal documents such as contracts or transfer documents.

  • Review and analyze ground leases, tenant leases and contracts, purchase and sale agreements, credit assignments agreements, surface right agreements, free leases and closing documents, and Request for Proposal’s (RFP's).

  • Review submitted property documents and resolve issues related to missing documents or ones that are incomplete or out of date.

  • Review and analyze title commitments and survey matters and examine back up documents received to ensure accuracy. 

  • Identify and verify legal property owner or heirs to a deceased property owner.

  • Coordinate real estate and mortgage closings and coordinate closing workflows with external parties and internal teams.

  • Review, analyze and organize a variety of legal matters, including due diligence.

  • Support the property department in relation to lease negotiations, disputes and site related issues. 

  • Visit government offices and engage with government authorities to undertake tasks as may be instructed. 

  • Work with third party vendors to resolve issues and obtain additional information.

  • Follow up with various sellers, ground lessors, tenants, vendors, customers and outside counsel on a variety of legal matters.

  • Review executed closing documents from property owners and prepare file for Senior Management review and full execution.

  • Ensure fully executed documents are submitted to the title company for recording.

  • Ensure acquisition expenses related to each transaction are processed and coded to the closing file.

  • Coordinate the registration of lease agreements and similar documents within the real estate record file.

  • Coordinate dissemination of documents to various departments within SBA

  • Preparation of letters, memos, and reports

  • Review and maintain trackers, reports, checklists, processes, and other files.

What You’ll Need – Qualifications & Requirements

  • Associate degree or equivalent experience. Bachelor's degree preferred; and 2+ years paralegal experience; experience reading, interpreting, analyzing and preparing leases, legal documents and/or contracts including title and survey review, real estate litigation, collections and bankruptcy with a working knowledge in legal terminology.

  • Certified Paralegal and/or Legal Assistant Certification Preferred
